Born in 2002, 4FRNT is one the youngest manufacturers of skis and skiing equipment but has quickly matured to an industry leader in cutting edge style and technology. At the beginning of the ’00s 4FRNT Founder Matt Sterbenz had grown tired of how bland, sterile, and homogeneous modern skiing was becoming. Sterbenz, along with like-minded disgruntled skiers, took matters into their own hands, forming 4FRNT, and thus “Rider owned. Rider inspired.” became their battle cry. Their core of today’s elite pro athletes help to engineer skis like the Hoji,David Wise’s Gold Medal ski the Wise, the YLE, and the Devastator. 4FRNT works tirelessly to break free of mundane industry standards and change the way the world perceives freeskiing. At it’s core skiing is fun, a “kid’s game,” and this fact is not lost on Sterbenz and his crew. They incorporate innovative designs, ski shapes, and utilize the best materials and technologies available: Reflect Tech, Camber/Reverse Camber profiles, blends of Cap and Semi-Cap Construction, Tip and Tail Taper. 4FRNT uses “Tons of Tech” for one specific goal: an unmatched riding experience to deliver the biggest smile possible.
This past January at the SIA On Snow Demo at Copper Mountain, I had the opportunity to ski on the 2015 fleet and pick the brain behind the 4FRNT operation. Matt Sterbenz may be one of the most animated, passionate, and “ski tech” savy skiers I have ever met. One chair ride with Matt will have you fired up, ready to charge and shred, and educated in the geometry and engineering within the 4FRNT design. Since kicking the door down in ’02, Sterbenz and crew have harnessed the power of their passion and discontent with ski industry norms to innovate and inspire. When you ski 4FRNT, you ride the essence of the sport, dedication, creativity, and fervor. Very simply put, you’ll have one hell of a good time.
