Volcom Open Air – Part 1 – With Cheryl Maas’

You may remember Dutch rider Cheryl Maas’ for her part in the 2004 all girls snowboard film “Dropstich”. Despite the fact that she has had multiple shoulder injury over the past years, Cheryl is still pushing the limits and was the first women to land a backside 900 in a slopestyle competition at the European X Games. In Volcom’s Open Air part 1 (of 5) she takes us on a tour our her home land and the artificial slope she grown up riding in the Netherlands, and then to Breckenridge for a little pre-season warm-up.

One of the coolest part of this s video is the Dry Slope (2:05) that Cheryl learned to ride on, which bring us to our next point. Local Ski resort Hyland Hill located in Minnesota is may be adding a few new feature to their ski and snowboard area. There are considering adding a zip-line, alpine coaster and best of all they are talking about covering slopes with synthetic snow! You know what that means, snowboarding in Minnesota year round!
