What began as a small, spur-of-the-moment contest eight years ago at Southern California’s Bear Mountain has become the official beacon for the start of the season. Hot Dawgs and Hand Rails 2012 will be taking place at The Scene at Bear on September 24 this time around, and I can almost personally guarantee that it will be the best contest of the month.
Clayton Shoemaker, resident genius of jibs at Bear Mountain will definitely be coming up with a custom set up for this year’s contest like he always does, we’re just not quite sure how he plans to top last years rails and rides. There could be any number of jumps, rails or bonks, or maybe something crazy that we can’t even yet categorize!
The contest has tons of big names marking their calendar for an appearance on-snow, like Austin Hironaka, Brandon Cocard, Dylan Alito, Forest Bailey, Harrison Gordon, Jake Kuzyk, Jed Anderson, Jonah Owen, Johnny Lazz, Lucas Magoon, Nick Visconti, Scott Stevens, and many more.
Aside from the top-notch professional snowboarding, you’ll also leave this free contest with a copy of Bear’s newest video and some swag from the tent village. Keep those ears open while you’re there too and you might just find out where the afterparty is.
