Windsurfing is a thrilling sport that challenges you both physically and mentally. Most sports have accessories that help you do the sport better or easier. There are a ton of windsurfing tools out on the market to help you set up a rig, sail more efficiently, or repair damage. On the list below, I break down my favorite accessories and explain why they are my favorite windsurfing accessories.

Here are my top 5 windsurfing accessories to enhance your sailing experience.

Chinook Tug Cleat

Down-hauling without a tool can be a painful and unpleasant experience. The Chinook Tug cleat gives you the ability to downhaul your sail faster and with much more power without shredding your hands. I picked this accessory because it allows me to rig a sail more efficiently, and without hurting my hands in the process. Rig faster, and get sailing sooner with the Chinook tug cleat in your gear bag.

Chinook Easy Windsurfing Uphaul

Uphauling is one of the least appealing parts of windsurfing. Requiring lots of energy and time, uphauling can leave your arms and back exhausted, and reduce your time sailing. The Chinook easy windsurfing uphaul is designed to solve this problem. On those light wind days, when the wind is not strong enough to waterstart, an easy uphaul will save your body from a ton of stress and reduce the risk of injury. Easy uphauls are special because they have an additional loop piece that attaches to your harness, to allow you to use your body weight to hoist the sail out of the water instead of your brute strength. This allows you to lift all sails much easier using less energy. Easy uphauls do need to be appropriately adjusted, based on the sailer to work effectively. Grab an Easy Uphaul and spend less time uphauling and more time sailing!

Dakine Wai Wai Mast Base Pad

Not a single person enjoys stubbing their toe, especially when trying to balance on a windsurfing board. The Dakine Wai Wai mast base pad strives to reduce the consequences of this happening. Made from high-density foam and able to fit over a wide variety of mast bases, this mast base pad will save your feet and toes from a lot of pain. This pad is on my list because I have stubbed my toe on a padless mast base way too many times. Now I never sail without one. There are times where I still accidentally kick the base but because of the pad, I can keep going without hurting my foot. Sail longer and pain-free with the Dakine Wai Wai mast base pad

Chinook Ding All Epoxy Repair kit

A lot of windsurfers have dealt with the unfortunate experience of discovering a ding or scuff on their board. Whether it be from a rock, another board, or something completely unknown. These dings may not seem like a big deal but if not fixed, they can lead to bigger problems that will eventually make the board not sailable. From my experience, if a small scuff or crack is not fixed right away it will soon become more severe. If this happens you, you have to worry about water seeping into your board and causing a whole new set of problems. The best thing you can do if you notice a ding is to fix it as soon as possible. I like to use the Chinook ding all epoxy repair kit because it is fast, easy, and effective. All you need to do is squeeze a tiny bit of the resin on the damaged area just to cover and fill the ding. Then leave the board in the sun for a short time to let it harden. Follow up with the sanding pad to level out and smooth the resin onto the board. This repair kit works best on small and minor damages and will help to keep your boards lasting longer and sailing better.

Chinook Sail Repair Monofilm Tape

A punctured sail is one of the fastest ways to ruin a sailing session. Once a sail has a hole in it, if not repaired right away, it will quickly become larger and larger until the sail is useless. The best thing to do once you notice a hole or small tear is to patch it up with sail tape. I like to use the Chinook sail repair monofilm tape because it is fast and gets the job done. Acting like a big sticker, you can patch up small holes and rips on your sail so you can continue riding instead of getting stuck on the beach. Hopefully, you will never tear your sail but if you do this repair tape will save the day and your sail.
