The Best Ski Related Gifts

With ski season and the holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about an awesome gift to give the skier in your life. Skiers can be hard to buy gifts for though, as a lot of people can be particular about the gear that they use to cruise down the mountain.

That’s why we developed a sure-fire list of ski gifts that your skier will love no matter what their preferences are! Take the stress out of buying for them by checking out our suggestions for the best ski related gifts to give this year. Your favorite skier will thank you for it!

Ski Gifts – Warming Layers

One of the quickest ways to end a day on the slopes is when you’re too cold to continue skiing. That’s why one of the best gifts you can get your skier this year are extra warming or base layers! Pay special attention the next time your skier comes home from a day skiing and listen for any specific area that they were feeling particularly cold, as there are many different warming layers you can get for them.

Beanies are a must have item for skiers as they help keep most of your body heat from escaping. In fact, up to 10% of our body heat leaves through the tops of our heads alone! This makes wearing a beanie absolutely critical to ensure that you stay out skiing as long as possible. We really don’t think winter lovers can ever have too many beanies, no such thing, so they make great ski gifts!

The next area that skiers are likely to complain about getting cold are the hands. One of the most valuable and seldomly used items for keeping hands warm are glove inserts or liners. These boost the warming capabilities of the exterior ski gloves like nothing else! They’re better than the chemical handwarmers as the fleece keeps hands warm even if they get wet, which is likely to happen at some point or another during the season.

Finally, a good pair of ski socks will surely help your skier stay out longer since their feet won’t be frost bitten on the coldest of days, making it a great gift. Pay attention to the fabric that the socks are made of, as some fabrics are better than others. In fact, one of the best fabrics to buy is merino wool. Merino wool is incredibly warm for how light and thin it is. Additionally, it retains its insulating properties even when wet! A nice pair of merino wool ski socks will certainly be a well-received gift for any skier.

Ski Gifts – Must Have Accessories

If your skier is all set in the warming layers department, don’t despair! They could definitely benefit from adding a few of these gear items to their ski bags to ensure that they are prepared to fix any minor issue quickly while out skiing this season.

First and foremost, every skier should carry some sort of multi tool with them when they go out. There’s nothing worse than having a loose binding that you discovered at the top of a run (or when you’re going down the mountain on that loose binding and you lose your ski because of it!). Having a multi tool to make quick repairs while on the mountain is a life saver, and who doesn’t want to give a gift that’s helpful!

After that, every skier should also have extra wax and an edge sharpener to make quick tune ups after a hard day of skiing. There’s nothing worse than running over some exposed roots or rocks and seeing a chunk of your base layer of wax missing without a way to fix it up, especially on a powder day! And the same thing goes for not having sharp edges to be able to dig into the slope when skiing in icier conditions. Your skier will thank you for thinking ahead for them by gifting these must have items, because often times you don’t realize how valuable they are until you’re in desperate need of them! These are products that also need to be replaced or replenished from time to time, so the gift is guaranteed to be useful.

Ski Gifts – Safety Equipment

Last, but definitely not least, is safety equipment. Skiing can be a dangerous sport, especially when you’re flying down the mountain with hundreds of others at the same time. That’s why it’s imperative for skiers to always wear a helmet while skiing.

Take a look at your skier’s helmet. If they’ve been wearing it for a few seasons, check it for any wear and tear along the chin strap as well as the outer layer of the helmet. There should be zero signs of cracking. If you do see cracking or some extra wear on the helmet, consider gifting your skier a new helmet!

Helmets come in a variety of shapes, styles, and colors. The most important metric of them all though is size. Be sure to purchase the correct size helmet that will snuggly and comfortably fit your skier’s head.

While you might not immediately think of ski goggles as a safety element of skiing, they help skiers see clearly the obstacles in their way, changing snow conditions, icy patches, and more! Visual impairment while skiing can be a huge hazard. Goggles make a great ski gift, not only because they help with safety, but they’re also a very fun gift to receive! They can add a cool, updated factor to ski gear, and if their current pair is rather old, a new pair will have loads of new helpful tech. We’d have to say that goggles are probably our favorite gift idea if you’re looking to impress.

Ski Gifts – Final Thoughts

Ski gifts are some of the best things you can get for the skier in your life this season. The next time they head to the mountain, listen up to what they have to say! Is anything older, needs replacing, falling apart, or bothering them? What they mention would probably make a great gift! Whether it’s a new set of socks, some fresh wax, or a new helmet, all of these items can help your loved one get the most enjoyment out of the upcoming ski year.

Plus, you’ll get the added benefit of knowing that they’ll think of you every time they use that new item when they go out to do one of their favorite activities! What’s your favorite ski gift idea? Let us know!
