The Liquid Force Groove is a shape developed with Collin Harrington. This board is suited to an all-around rider. If you’ve ever seen Collin’s style, he does everything from unreal rail riding to killing it in the wake lab events to just some of the most fluid wake slashing you’re going to see. One of the features that Collin wanted in his board to suit his style is a progressive continuous rocker. A progressive continuous rocker means it’s a little more exaggerated than say the rocker on a trip. But, it’s still a flowing curve through the center of the board that gives Collin those really fluid carving style that he has in the wake slashes and also just a really predictable ride but still a higher arc off the wake than say a trip. On the bottom, Collin wanted a clean bottom through the center, something that would be smooth and wouldn’t hang up on rails. You’ll notice, the Groove has no edge channels. This gives Collin a really clean bottom surface, something that won’t hang up, something that allows the board to slide but still has a nice crisp edge and a great fin setup for control off the tip but looseness through the center. The Groove has a double inside single concave through the middle. Again, this gives that board smooth landings, displacing the water.
But, on the Groove, the double concave, it flows into a quad concave out the tip and this quad concave focuses the water flow and vents it through this fin setup. And this molded fin setup on the Groove is large outside cupped fins with little quad fins inside, closer to the tip. And the V between the center concave is accentuated by little teeny baby keel. This just keeps the water flow attached to one of the two sides and gives the board acceleration and thrust out the tip. Another thing Collin wanted in his board is he wanted the tips to really thin out. He wanted the board to be responsive. He wanted it to have a lively flex and pop and like all the spring. If you notice, the Groove gets really thin in the tips. This makes the board feel alive. The Collin’s board comes in three sizes: a 134, a 138 and a 142. So, go get your Groove on.
