Throughout most of life, it pays to be a chick. Guys take you out to dinner, bouncers never make you pay a cover charge, and gentlemen across the nation are ready to hold doors for you and lay their coats across puddles on rainy days. In snowboarding, it usually isn’t equal, most contests are geared towards the guys and the girls are usually overlooked in some capacity. Prizes aren’t equal and sponsorships are usually based on looks more than skill, but there are a few core companies out there that are as dedicated to your progression as they are getting pretty faces into their clothes.
The Billabong Flaunt It tour is hitting slopes across North America for yet another season, inviting girls of all levels out to have a good time, much like the invites you’ll get from frat boys when you get to college, but with a very different result. Events consist of a morning slopestyle and an afternoon rail jam. The judges they use are bastions of patience, too. They sit there all day, allowing you as many runs as you want to nail your run. There’s cash for the winners and prizes for everybody and if you do good enough, Billabong will fly you out to Sierra-at-Tahoe for the finals this spring! And if you’ve never rode California in the spring, this fact alone ought to be enough to get you practicing your railslides and nosepresses on-hill.
