Gear Review: Liquid Force Watson Hybrid

If you’re looking for a new wakeboard this year you should take a look at one of our best sellers here at The House, the Liquid Force Watson Hybrid. The reason this board is so popular is because it is a good fit for a wide range of riders. It will be forgiving to a beginner but it will still rip at a level worthy of Shawn Watson.

Liquid Force gave the Watson their Hybrid Technology with is a combination of a new hull shape and unique flex, which results in a buttery flex on rails and a board that will pop off a wake for days. The base features a triple concave vee shape in the middle and double at the tips. This will break water for softer landings, move quicker into turns. The double vee channels at the tips will allow the board to hold an edge while will providing good speed. The material used on the base is Liquid Force’s P-Tex Grind Base, this will let the board slide better on rails and make it more resistant to damage.

The core of the Watson Hybrid is what makes this board shine. It has Liquid Force’s CNC Wood/ PVC Core, which is wood and PVC material used together. The wood grain is laid longitudinally which will make the board ultra strong and springy with a good flex, and the PVC will help to reduce the weight.

The flex of the Watson Hybrid is right in the middle of soft and stiff. The board is just a little more stiff in the middle which will help when riding from wake to wake, and the tip and tail will have more flex because of their thin profile and the triax glass that is used in them. The sidewalls of the Watson Hybrid are the new Liquid Rail construction. This is an elastomeric material that makes the sidewalls super durable and the board will automatically lock into a rail.
