Just as the temperature started cooling from snowboarding having a few days off from hot new tricks popping up on the internet, this happens. This is a Cab 1440° Triple Cork done by Yiwei Zhang. Technically it should be called a Triple Haakon because it’s a Cab Cripper A.K.A. a Haaken Flip with a 1440° rotation. Burton Snowboard‘s Yiwei Zhang has now been added to a very small list of riders who can Triple Cork, and he is the first rider to do it in the halfpipe.
Yiwei Zhang is familiar with outstanding performances in the pipe; he finished in 6th place at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi representing the Chinese national team and wrapped up a 2nd place finish at the 2013 Arctic Challenge. It’s no wonder why he has worked so hard to land the triple – Zhang is a pipe jock and wants to get paid. With the backing of Burton, Nike, Mini Cooper (seriously), and Oakley it looks like he’s on the right track.
