Time to Pick Out a Helmet

The Bern Macoon—style & safety

The Bern Macoon—style & safety

For years, the issue of snowboarders and helmets has been widely debated as to whether or not they should be required. On Friday, a bill requiring children to wear them on California ski slopes was signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The bill calls for a fine of $25 for infractions, but the law will not be enforced this season.

The bill has two parts, and only the part about children and helmets was supported by the Governator.

This shows that the wheels are, in fact, in motion to make this a law, so now might be a good time to start looking into a skid lid of your own. Some of your friends might not think they’re cool, or they don’t fit your style…but according to the National Ski Areas Association an average of 38 people die every year skiing or snowboarding, and that’s definitely not going to help your image.

Pros like Jed Anderson, Shaun White, and Pat Milbery always wear helmets, so if anyone tries to heckle you about your new helmet, just tell them that you need one because you go as big as the pros! And if you get one this year, you’ll look like the trendsetter next year when everyone under 18 has to wear one.

Here at The House there’s a huge selection of dome pieces to choose from, so style and individuality won’t be sacrificed. Check out the entire selection here because if they’re good enough for John Connors himself, then they oughta be good enough for you too.
