Award shows mean two things— free drinks and tiny statues!
Well it’s officially awards season. The time of year when those that worked the hardest get rewarded with drinks and statuettes, and no one deserves it more than Nic Cage for his work as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Oh wait, wrong blog, you’re looking for good snowboarding, not awful acting. The Transworld awards are our Emmys, Grammys, and Nobel Prizes all rolled up into one, but TW usually ends up acknowledging the guy, or gal, who did it best, unlike some of the other shows.
They recently posted the nominees, and if you haven’t seen them yet, there are some really intriguing matchups. The first one to catch our eye was Standout of the Year. LeBlanc vs. Davis vs. Horgmo. How does one choose between such distinctly different methods of domination? Davis’ run was all-time, but in the end our money’s on the triple cork.
Also on the docket is the video of the year, which looks to be wide open. The nominees are Cheers, In Color, and F*** It. Now it would seem a little selfish for the Transworld Awards to award their own movie top honors, so we’re guessing that Cheers takes it home.
Now for the Reader’s Choice award, we all actually get a say in it, so keep an eye on twsnow.com to cast your the vote that really matters. Or have some fun with it and start campaigning now to get your own self some love.
The awards show goes down in history on January 28 from the Fillmore in Denver right in the middle of the SIA tradeshow.
