2011 Hyperlite B-Side Wakeboard Review

Hey, what’s up, I’m JD Webb here with my 2011 Hyperlite B-Side.

The B-Side series is JD Webb’s pro-model series for 2011, and it’s quickly becoming one of Hyperlite’s best selling boards. The B-Side was shaped by Scott  Bouchard with input from JD Webb. What JD really wanted in this shape was something that was a little faster, but still had creative pop, so Scott Bouchard shaped the new B-Side series with a blended three stage rocker. The great part about a blended three stage rocker is while it still has all the pop of a traditional three stage, it is a little more mellowed from the tip to the tail so you don’t burn too much speed in the wake. The B-Side series also features a sculpted tip and tail. What we do is we reduce the material to reduce swing weight. It also gives the board some good flex characteristic. Also with the 2011 B-Side I have AVS plastic beams in it, so when I’m hitting rails and stuff you never have to worry about the fins getting beat up.

This is great for cable parks, for sliders, they take a lot of punishment and don’t break down like a traditional foam folded in fin. This series feature full Monocoque Construction which means we take the glass from the bottom and we wrap it up all the way around the top, creating a super strong edge.

Alright, so for this year for the 2011 B-Side, we outsourced our graphics with a company called Morning Breath. They really put a nice new face lift on my board. Got a little crazy with it, and I’m stoked with how it turned out. The 2011 Hyperlite B Side comes in a 136, a 140, and a 144.

B-Side is JD Webb’s board of choice, and is perfect for the freestyle type of rider, looking for the next progressive shape. When Butch and I were designing this board, I really wanted a user-friendly cast, a nice, soft, landing board, and I think we really accomplished it. I’m really happy on how it turned out, hope you guys enjoy it.
