X Games Real Street is Back!

There was once a time, not that long ago, when professional skateboarding was divided up between the contest skaters and the video part skaters. Those lines have been blurred in today’s scene, with new ventures like Rob Dyrdek’s Street League, the Maloof Money Cup, and for the second year in a row X Games Real Street.

Real Street could very well be the best contest of the year. Top skaters whom the likes of which would never be caught putting on a helmet and dropping into a contest course, now have a shot at X Games medals. Their task is to produce about a minute of fresh new footage and the best part grabs the glory.

The field has expanded to sixteen this year, and the lineup includes Daewon Song, Tommy Sandoval, Dylan Rieder, Darrell Stanton, Joey Brezinski, Tom Asta, Anthony Schultz, Zered Bassett, Eli Reed, Brandon Westgate, Ryan Decenzo, Louie Barletta, Billy Marks, Silas Baxter-Neal, Tony Tave and Guru Khalsa.

The first round of voting is open, and you get to be the judge. Check out the X Games website for the new footage from all the riders, and cast your first round vote before July 4 and decide who moves on. Our take for early favorites goes out to Darrell Stanton, Dylan Rieder and Brandon Westgate.

This year also throws in a Berrics-inspired twist…the last four finalists are coming to Los Angeles to compete for the first ever X Games Game of S.K.8. so even if your favorite guy didn’t put his all into his part, vote for him anyways and head into LA to see him live.
