Review: K2 Anagram Snowboard

This is Street Gypsy, a.k.a. D-Mac, a.k.a. Dave McCaul here at the House talking about the K2 Anagram snowboard. We sell this snowboard quite a bit. You’re looking at a low cost twin-tip snowboard that is really versatile as far as who it is going to work for. It’s great for an entry-level rider just getting into the sport and looking for an all-mountain snowboard, but it’s also good for the park rat on a budget. Unlike a lot of other less expensive twin-tips, this one actually has a decent side-cut to it. It is a dual-progressive, which means it will actually blend a couple of different radii together. Basically that means you are going to have a really smooth turn initiation, but as you power through a turn it continues through to the next turn. It is really responsive and it hooks up good on ice.

K2 features a full-length wood core in all their snowboards. This one is their base core. It is super-durable and definitely has a lively pop to it. From there, we have a pretty cool top sheet on this one, with a matte and gloss detail and some windows you can see through to the actual wood core. Biax fiberglass makes it softer, more forgiving and lighter weight. This one does have a catch-free rocker, which means that at either end it will slightly tip up. That means if you were an entry-level rider or came up short on a turn, the points that would usually catch will stay up. You won’t scorpion quite as much with the K2 Anagram snowboard.

All the K2s will feature the HybridTech construction, which has a side wall running through the body of the snowboard. When it hits the contact points it switches to a cap having the top sheet wrap over to the snowboard’s edge. That will make the snowboard torsionally more forgiving. More importantly, it will make it lightweight in the area where you want it to be, including a lighter swing weight. The K2 Anagram snowboard is definitely one of my best sellers. A worthwhile snowboard to check out.
