Jeremy Jones is at the top of my personal list of most influential riders of all time, and he has unarguably lead a path of progression for snowboarding big mountain style. Every. Single. Year. Jeremy keeps bringing things to the table that we never would have thought of or we have ever seen before. The last couple years he’s been out killing unspeakable mountain lines that he hiked with his own two feet and raw man power.
Just that may seem like a full up, satisfiable life’s accomplishment for one person, but Jeremy keeps stacking his plate with more. He founded the environmental awareness project POW (Protect Our Winters) that focuses on “reducing climate change’s effects on our sport and local mountain communities.” And Jeremy has also spent the last two years traveling around, across and up and down the globe with some of the best snowboarders in the world, and his good friends, for his movie Deeper from Teton Gravity Research that will be released this fall. And sure why not, let’s add one more to the list. Just because he can and it’s only the natural way of things, now in 2010 Jeremy has yet again brought something new to the industry with his very own line of snowboards, Jones Snowboards, and I am quite proud to announce that we have Jones here at The House! Who better than Jeremy to be pushing the bounds of snowboard performance and technology and making it available to the rest of us. The guy has more knowledge about snowboarding than any of us could ever even hope to scratch the surface of.
Jones Snowboards are designed more for the riders that are looking to track up the back country and those die hard powder hounds, but if you’re a freerider with a passion for the jump lines, he’s got a great option for you too. All of the boards, except the Hovercraft (which is a bread of its own), feature camber under foot and rocker at the tip and tail, giving the rider the best of both worlds, and Magne-Traction, which you should never buy a board without.
For riding in bounds, hitting jump lines and maybe a little pow later in the day Jones has made the Mountain Twin. It’s for the all mountain freestyle rider that still has a soft spot for powder. Moving just a little bit deeper into back country freeriding is the Flagship. This board is meant for the powder days when you don’t know exactly what the conditions are going to be. It could be soft, some parts could be a little icy, doesn’t matter, the Flagship’s got it. Getting into true mountain riding is the Hovercraft. Jeremy says on his site that this board is meant to float full speed, perfect for fluffy slashes. And last but not least, when you’re really getting out there into the mix of it Jones has developed The Solution. It’s the world’s first ever split board with Magne-Traction. This board is meant to take you places further out than machines can. Jeremy says this board has opened up whole new worlds to him, and if it can do that for him imagine what it can do for you.
