2011 SIA

Remember when the annual SIA tradeshow was in Las Vegas and was consistently the wildest winter weekend off snow? Last year the event was somewhat mellow after making the move to Denver, but the ante has been upped for 2011 because this year the FIS is kicking off their Big Air event schedule at downtown’s Civic Center Park.

Officials from the event are boasting that it’s going to be the biggest jump of it’s kind in America, so if the ancient and extinct Icer Air in San Francisco and last year’s Red Bull SnowScrapers are the benchmarks being passed then you know the booter’s going to be huge.

Being an FIS event is bound to draw some of the best competitors from around the entire world, and just up the road there’s a little event going on at Aspen the following weekend…something called the X Games…might draw a few top pros out as well.

The LG FIS World Cup Snowboard Big Air pops off over the Denver skyline on Wednesday, January 26th. The SIA tradeshow runs the 27th-30th at the Colorado Convention Center, and the X Games start early rounds on Thursday and run through the weekend. Now, if you just read to here, and haven’t stopped to make a travel arrangements, do it now!

Event tickets go on sale November 5th, and you can register for SIA already if you need to get in there too. Stuck at school or work that weekend? Check your local listings because NBC will (big?) air the contest.
