Analog's Design Unlikely

The sport of snowboarding has always lent itself to creativity, so much so that many people do not even like to hear it get called a sport, but rather refer to it as an art. In keeping with the mantra that “good artists create while great artists steal” and the pedagogy of the entire art world as one big thrift shop it is no surprise to find many resorts featuring the same types of hits scattered about the park. Everyone has their down rails, their stair sets, their c-box and that’s great, the consistency is nice to have, but for some riders out there, and the fellas at Analog the unvarying features were uninspiring.

Winner Winner Jibbin' Dinner

In order to alleviate this epidemic, Analog hosted a competition called Design Unlikely, which invited the snowboarding’s creative collective to conjure up a dream feature that would actually get built. There were a lot of great ideas submitted from beginners and even some big name pro shreds, but in the end the real winner is Minnesota’s own Jesse Paul.

He calls his creation “He Stairs at the Rail” and his brainchild has more features than a G6. There’s stairs, rails, pole jams, and seemingly endless possibilities…basically we want to ride it now. Lucky for you and me, we won’t have to wait long, as Bear Mountain’s crew has already began building the behemoth in preparation for the Analog Design Unlikely contest that’s going down on December 18th.
