2011 K2 Uprise Snowboard Bindings Review

This is the K2 Uprise Auto Binding.

K2 has had this in the designs for about three years now and they’re still going strong. They’ve won over a lot of great team riders, a lot of regional shop riders, all across the US and the world. The auto is one of the coolest binding systems that I’ve ever seen.

The auto system connects your toe strap and your ankle strap together, so you only have to tighten your ankle strap in order to tighten your toe strap. I’ll show you what I mean.

If I was to ratchet down on these ratchets right here, you’ll notice that the toe strap gradually works its way down and tightens its way onto your foot.

The K2 Uprise chassis is auto chassis. It is a reinforced nylon fiberglass chassis. Heel, cup, sides are connected. It has the asymmetrical rock lock high back, so it kind of contours to the natural shape of your leg when you’re riding, jibbing, pressing, etc. etc. It does have the super push custom caddy ankle straps. It does have a ladder guard. You see this thing is nice and thick, super, super, comfortable.

The K2 Uprise has a hinge mount and a cam lock system. So, if you’re on the hill and you want to center your strap to your foot a little bit more, it does have a tool-less cam lock. So, you push the lever up. I can move this either up or down. The same thing with the high back as well. It has the hinge mount, so with out a tool I can literally almost be change the angle of my high back with the hinge mount.

It also has the E2 auto-set toe strap. So, it’s pretty easy. All you have to do is set it once and then the ankle strap tightens the rest of your worries away in your binding. The ankle straps are great, like I said before, and the ratchets are the Air Light aluminum. So, you’ll see that this thing is about three inches long. It is a long lever. You’ll be able to crank these things down without having your bindings get loose or worry about them getting loose. And, they’re aluminum, so they’re going to be nice and light.

The K2 Uprise has a multi-compatible disk, as well. So, you’ll be able to put this on, literally, every single board that you can possibly imagine. The foot beds also have a nice EVA can system which means that they block snow from getting in to your disc area and they’re canted. So, they align your ankles and your knees to your hips a little bit better then a traditionally flat snowboard binding would.

And it also has the harsh mellow. If you don’t know what the harsh mellow is, they’re little pads that kind of work with the K2 snowboard system that they have, also called harsh mellow.

It’s a dampening system. It’s a system that helps you land your landings without getting that electric shock from going flat. And it also has the tool-less power ramp. So, you’ll be able to move this power ramp up and down, if you want a little bit more leverage on your toes over the top of your board.

Again, the  K2 Uprise automatic system, all black baby. Check it out.”
