Snowboard Mag's Chris Owen Talks About the Am Throwdown Event

The House Boardshop was lucky enough to be a part of this year’s first annual Vitamin Water Am Throwdown event in association with Snowboard Magazine which wrapped up last week in Copper, Colorado.

While the finalist teams were out “getting the shot” for their final videos we got a chance to talk with Chris Owen, editor in chief of Snowboard Magazine about the event.

House: How did you come up with the idea of The Am Throwdown and what is Snowboard Magazine’s motive for the event?

Chris Owen: The idea is not a new one. We didn’t come up with the contest ourselves, but it’s a combination of several other contests that have gone on all over the internet. We wanted to be able to get as many different parts of our audience involved in something online. It’s not just the riders and filmers, but each and every person who viewed and voted to get someone in to the finals.

House: Are you happy with the event and participation so far?

Owen: I am happy with the event so far. We had a bunch of entries and a good response from our online audience. The competitors all seem like they are enjoying themselves and are being good sports while they each go after the grand prize.

Stay tuned throughout the week as Snowboard Mag starts to leak the finalist videos shot and edited at Copper last week and for the announcement of which team will take home bragging rights and $5,000 in cash.

Also, be sure to check out this week’s Twitter #FF freebie contest for a chance to win a free subscription to Snowboard Magazine.
