Maloof Money Cup 2011 | Washington DC

The Maloof Brothers brought their big paycheck contest series to the capitol of America over the weekend, as the Maloof Money Cup headed into Washington, D.C. The head-to-head contest series was taken over by a slew of veterans, with none other than Mr. Andrew Reynolds taking home first place.

Just how veteran was the field? The Boss had to take down his childhood hero and friend, Ronnie Creager in the final matchup. The comp went down in the middle of the mid-Atlantic Labor Day heat, and one special fan really usurped all the glory meant for the winners. “The Kid” as he’s being referred to on the message boards, is reportedly the son of a congressman and a philanthropist, who had never before this seen the light of day, and combined with the epic skateboarding he was witness to on his first day, wanted to do nothing but dance.

In fact, he’s getting so huge, that if you were to happen to walk by any established skate industry water cooler this Tuesday morning, most team managers and product designers wouldn’t even know who won, they would just be talking about “The Kid’.

Should you get yourself into this situation, you can wow the industry types with your knowledge (The Boss beat Creager in the finals, and they beat Manny Santiago and Bastein Salabanzi in the process, then if you need an extra impressive fact to get yourself a t-shirt or into a warehouse skatepark, tell them this story about “The Kid” we made up.)

Andrew Reynolds took home $160,000 for his kickflip lipslides and more. Next up for these guys on the tour is South Africa at the end of September, check out MaloofMoneyCup.com for all the details.
