Burton Freestyle One Up Binding Review

Burton Snowboards, Snowboard Bindings, Boots, Jackets, Pants, Hoodies, Fleece, Mitts, Gloves, Shirts, Polos, BackpacksThis is the Burton Freestyle One Up Rapid-fire Ratchet System Action Binding. It has a response rating of a 3, so it’s going to be a little bit softer, but it’s pretty cool because it only has one strap and one ratchet, reducing weight and the amount of time that you need to strap in your bindings when you’re on the hill or in the parking lot. We can pretty much break this binding apart in a couple of sections: one being the base plate; one being the high back; one being the strap, the buckles, and then the cushioning on the base plate as well. It does have a single compound, a light weight, bomb-proof polycarbonate base plate. One piece offers a smooth ride that’s going to flex with the shape of your board. And it also has adjustable gas pedals, so if you kind of have a bigger foot and you want to wear a smaller binding, you can do that by taking out and bringing out the gas pedal. The high backs have a minimized ultra-light single compound high back. Again, the same thing as the base plate; it’s going to be one single compound. It’s going to flex the exact same all over the place, as it would the top, the bottom, etc, etc. Now the straps are pretty interesting; or the strap is pretty interesting. It has a full coverage, one-up single strap with micro adjusters. So you can see that you can literally do and undo this binding with one strap. It also has micro adjusters, so if you want to fine-tune how tight you want these bindings, it’s a tool-less adjustment. Ah-ha – all you have to do is adjust that, strap it down; strap it down and you’ll be good to go. The ratchets are pretty rad; the buckles are a smooth-glide buckle. It’s a single compound with chrome-plated aluminum with polycarbonate plastic as well. The cushioning has an EVA base plate cushioning bed; makes it nice and comfortable for that rider. You know, one great thing about these bindings is they’re pretty much tool-less to adjust, especially that forward-lean adjustment in the back. If you like cranking it up, you can do that without having to have a tool on you. There’s a life-time warranty on the base plates. I dig these bindings. Plain and simple, easy to get in and out of. The response rating is a 3, so they’re going to be a little bit softer. I’d say go check these out –Burton Freestyle Rapid-fire One Up Binding, by Burton.
