LA Gets a New Park

Stoner Park

Remember the days when dinosaurs still roamed the landscape and your dad read the newspaper? Did you ever pick up that newspaper and flip through the pages until you found the one that served as an announcement of all the local childbirths, complete with pictures of the gross, weird little creatures that only a mother could fawn over? That always grossed us out too, but today we’re announcing the birth of a real beauty. Congratulations go out to the parents of a brand new skatepark, West Los Angeles and California Skateparks.

California Skateparks has been around for a while now, and not only do they build parks in small communities, they’re also responsible for some huge events like the upcoming Maloof Money Cup. Their track record is without a misstep, and the new park is no different, just another gold star on their ever-expanding resume.

The Stoner Park, as it is officially christened, is actually a plaza located at 1835 Stoner Ave in Los Angeles. We don’t condone any type of drug use here at The House, but the ledges and truly street-inspired features at this plaza will turn you into an addict quicker than Hollywood did to Lindsay Lohan. At more than 20,000-square feet, you’d need rehab just to keep you out of this place.

Founding father Alec Beck and some of the loke-dawgs have already got a nice little vid up on Vimeo showcasing all of the park’s features and the nice thing about this place is how spread out it is. A plaza isn’t supposed to flow, each feature is meant to be sessioned, and it seems they’ve finally got that figured out here. Leave the flow for the old guys in the pool.
