Lib Tech Downtown Throwdown

Perhaps by now you’ve heard of the Occupy Wall Street Demonstration that’s been going on in New York City to protest big corporations and all that? Well it’s spreading to other cities, and this weekend the protest rolled into the northwest for Occupy Seattle. Well it turns out that everyone in the northwest snowboards, so they decided to have a rail jam, and who better than the anti-corporate crew at Lib Tech to lead the festivities?

OK so that’s not really what happened, but Lib Tech did hold their annual Downtown Throwdown in Seattle over the weekend. This year’s setup featured a donkey-dick round bar and double-down box that seems like as good a way to start a season as any, add a quarterpipe and stall bar at the bottom and it feels like the thick of contest season.

Big names came out for the humble little jam, with dudes like Nick Visconti, Scott Stevens, Johnny Lazz and Forest Bailey making their first appearances of the season. After a few hours of urban antics, the podium was full of the type of young up and comers that this contest is usually dominated by. Defending champion Ryan Paul came in third, with Dylan Thompson in second and Brandon Hobush taking top honors. With Dylan Alito in fourth that made for a pretty successful afternoon for the ThirtyTwo ams, and if you haven’t seen Ammo then you need to get over to the ThirtyTwo site and check it out, for free!

New this year is a second stop for the Downtown Throwdown, San Francisco, land of homos and homeless will host the second event at the Civic Center on Halloween weekend, and if you’ve ever seen the types of people that are walking around that neighborhood on a regular weekend you know this one promises to be a blast.
