It’s almost here kids, The Art of Flight premieres this evening in New York City. To stoke out your anticipation just a little bit more, we got our hands on this picture-perfect POV camera edit from one of John Jackson’s steep lines in the movie.
How about three cheers for the GoPro revolution? It used to be the sure sign of a total kook if you saw someone in the park with a bulky, redneck-rigged video camera attached to their helmet, but ever since GoPro brought High-Definition to the small-scale game our industry and many more have seen the evolution of POV shots as they pop up in all the major videos.
The angle in this clip really shows you how hairy some of the stuff these guys get themselves into really is. Surely most of us have seen a big mountain shot in the past and said something to the tune of, “That’s nothing, the only thing stopping me from doing that is access to the terrain.” Now, with the John Jackson clip from Brainfarm and Red Bull, you get a true perspective of how steep it is before he drops in, not to mention the scope and size of the cornice-to-cornice transfer he ends his ride with.
