The Burton Barracuda, now in its second year, is an all-mountain free-riding board recommended for intermediate to advanced riders. Built for speed on both powder and cliffs, its S-Rocker technology allows you to easily float atop the powder at higher speeds while remaining responsive in the hard pack.
Nug Raduction allows you to take as much as 10cm off your normal board length for easier maneuvering (2-3 cm is recommended). Between the bindings, the Barracuda actually cambers toward the tail so it floats a bit more through powder turns than you might expect. With a 15mm taper, its big nose gives you lots of float. Being reverse-cambered before the front foot and cambered after the front foot, you get the pop you want to get off those cliffs as well as the stability you’re looking for when chest-deep in powder. The Superfly II Core, a combination of hardwoods and softwoods, runs from tip to tail and edge to edge. It helps keep you smooth and consistent. Medium Directional Flex gives this board more pop in the tail without giving up control at the nose. The core is wrapped in Triax™Fiberglass giving a nice rigid response, tail and nose. The Carbon I-Beam™–its lively backbone–gives it a lot of snap while the Sintered WFO base makes it super fast, as long as you keep it waxed. Use temperature-specific wax.
The Barracuda has strong sidewalls and its Frostbite Edges bite down really well on hard pack and on ice. With Pro Tip™, its core has been gradually tapered off to reduce swing rate. That feature also makes it more lightweight and agile. The Channel mounting pattern makes it easy to adjust the bindings. An Infinite Ride™ board, the Barracuda is already broken in for you. The Barracuda doesn’t limit you to powder or to freestyle. It gives you the freedom to choose your terrain.
The Burton Barracuda might be the most perfected all mountain freeride snowboard on the face of the planet. The Barracuda can be downsized 2-3 cm from normal length because of Nug Raduction, the slightly tapered tail floats in pow, and the S-Rocker profile is a combination like no other. The Burton Barracuda is a dream come true. If you want a more freestyle oriented all mountain snowboard check out the Burton Sherlock.
