Naish SUP Paddleboard Review 2016

The Naish SUP boards 2015 lineup includes the quality and tech you expect from Naish, with a whole new look and brand new models and sizes so there is truly a board for every type of rider. The trusty Nalu collection has a bold new color theme, the short and sweet Odysseus is the brand new board and the inflatable line has expanded with more sizes and some great new colors. Don’t sleep on these boards. If you think too long, they will be gone. So, let’s just get right to it. Here are our favorite picks from the Naish SUP boards 2015 line.

Naish Nalu GS at Windward Boardshop

Naish Nalu GS

The “jack of all trades” when it comes to the Naish SUP line is by far the Naish Nalu GS SUP board. The Nalu is perfect for cruising around, riding waves and comes in several sizes so there is an option for almost any rider. The GS construction features  a glass matrix deck and bottom, wood reinforcement in the stance area for added rigidity and a molded EPS closed cell core that is lightweight and resistant to water leakage. The width can range anywhere from 29″ to 31″ (width varies by length) while the 10’10 comes with a multi-channel concave bottom that directs the water from the nose to tail offering the rider a super smooth, stable ride. Other stock features include a recessed deck pad, full bodied rails and a V-shape tail for smooth, fast glide. Each size also comes with Naish’s “ledge handle” that makes gripping and carrying the board super easy and an EVA decked for comfort and stability under foot. For one board that can do it all, and that any member of the family can enjoy – the only way to go is the Naish Nalu.

Naish Nalu GT at Windward Boardshop

Naish Nalu GT

Take all the great tech we told you about above from the GS, add 2015 Naish’s Nalu GT SUP Board construction and you’ve got yourself one lightweight, strong paddle board. The GT construction comes with a full wood sandwich outside the glass matrix top and bottom and a half deck glass reinforcement in the footing area to create a perfectly stable, rigid platform for easy balance and minimal weight. The GT boards are lighter and stronger and are worth every penny of the upgrade price. If you are going to treat yourself to a brand new board, why not give yourself the best? We’ll warn you though – once you go GT, you can never go back.

Naish Glide GS

The ultimate when it comes to cruising, touring and racing is the 2015 Naish Glide SUP Board. Available in two touring sizes, this big-bodied, stable board is perfect for both beginners and experienced paddlers thanks to the sturdy shape and fast profile. The larger race style shapes (12’6 and up) narrow out, get a more pronounced displacement bow and are perfect for both the amateur looking to start racing or the more seasoned competitor who wants a durable, fast and sleek race board.  All sizes come in the GS construction but note that the widths and overall weight does change based on the size. Naish Odysseus at Windward Boardshop

Naish Odysseus

Short and sweet, the 2015 Naish Odysseus SUP Board gets the job done at a fraction of the size of your average paddle board. Coming in at just 9’8″, this whip can handle small surf, cruising around and is also great for beginners thanks to the 34″ width and stocky profile. 200 liters packed into this compact ride means it can handle riders up to 25o lbs so don’t let the shorter length fool you! The Odysseus comes stock with a recessed deck pad, full rails and a quad-c0ncave bottom design that channels the water for a smooth, stable ride. Coming in at just 26 lbs, the Odysseus is easy for almost any member of the family to carry and the specially designed deck pad is extra grippy and extra comfy. If an 11′ board seems like a nightmare to deal with, the short and fun Odysseus might be just the board for you. Plus, the Odysseus is also available as a soft top which is a great option for those looking for added durability.

Naish One

The name says it all. If you are in search of the perfect inflatable stand up paddle board, the 2015 Naish One Inflatable SUP board is, well, the one. Holding the title of best selling inflatable SUP is no easy task, but if anyone is going to do it, it’s going to be Naish. The One is perfect for cruising, touring and amateur racing and is stable enough for beginners but much more fun for experienced paddlers. Many paddlers also recognize the Naish One from the N1SCO One Design races. This race series is a competition where all paddlers use the same board (the Naish One) and compete in sprint, distance and relay races. The N1SCO races have become a fun way to compete with family, friends and other paddlers in the community by creating a “fair” system with all riders on the same board. As far as tech goes, the One has a highly sturdy 6″ thickness, 30″ width and can hold over 200 lbs of weight so even bigger riders can enjoy this board. Bungee tie downs at the nose can hold all your extra gear and the thick, sturdy handle makes it easy to carry the board. Comes with the bag, pump, repair kit and board.
