Never Summer Swift

Never Summer Swift Snowboard at Windward Boardshop

Never Summer went back to their roots when it came to the design of the classic and timeless Never Summer Swift. Back before Never Summer was actually Never Sumer, Tracey and Tim Canaday developed ‘Swift Snowboards’ for a school project. The bottom sheet graphic on this 2016 Swift board was their actual logo, making this board a great collectors piece. Created to excel in powder conditions but perfectly capable of tackling hardpack and groomers all the same, the Swift is a big mountain, freeride dream come true. With Never Summer’s traditional Rocker Camber profile, the Swift can carve on a dime while the extended transition area allows the tail to drop back into the snow for superior float in powder. Other features to note are aluminum tip and tail protection, Elastomeric underfoot stabilizers and the RDS1 dampening system that reduces chatter and absorbs shock from the ground up. Like a classic car with all the right updates, the Never Summer Swift is a must have for your quiver.

Pros

  • Classic powder board
  • Collectors item

Cons

  • Not the most versatile board in the lineup
  • Not ideal as your only board

Never Summer Funslinger / Funslinger X

Never Summer Funslinger

The addition of the Never Summer Funslinger was not what most expect from the crew at Never Summer but quite the pleasant surprise. Made to conquer all things park (rails, jibs, jumps, etc.), the Funslinger is the wild, partying younger brother of the Never Summer lineup. With a true twin shape and blunted nose and tail, there is minimal swing weight on this snappy little ripper. Carbon laminate technology adds to the overall pop and responsiveness of the board, FDS dampening system helps reduce chatter and vibrations and the Boost Flex wood core reduces weight, making the Funslinger one of the lightest weight boards in the line. For those that thought Never Summer only made big mountain boards, we invite you to rip some lines through the terrain park on the super snappy Funslinger.

Pros

  • Terrain park ready with lots of great freestyle features
  • Ideal for lighter weight riders

Cons

  • Not as powerful as some of the other boards in the lineup
  • Not desirable for big mountain hard charging or heavier weight riders

Never Summer West / West X

Never Summer West at Windward Boardshop

The brand new board that truly embraces all that Never Summer stands for is the big mountain crusher, the West. The Never Summer West has the same aggressive camber that’s built into the Ripsaw but they added a set back stance for better float in powder, creating a board that can float like a dream but still carves hard and can hold an edge on hard pack and steep, fast conditions. The entire board has built in dampening to reduce chatter and vibrations, Pretensioned Fiberglass adds a ton of snap and pop for a lively feel and they also added p-tex tip and tail protection to help keep your board in tip-top shape. If you are looking for an extremely powerful, powder friendly, fast, big mountain board, look to the West. The Never Summer West.

Pros

  • Powerful, aggressive
  • All your big mountain needs in one board

Cons

  • Not ideal for beginners
  • Not ideal for certain terrain park conditions (big jumps ok but not great on rails / boxes)

Never Summer Chairman / Chairman X

Never Summer Chairman at Windward Boardshop

For those that have been following Never Summer since the beginning, you may have been familiar with older boards like the Premier and Raptor. Never Summer took all the best qualities from those two boards and created one of the most bad a$$ freeride boards we’ve ever seen, the Never Summer Chairman. Just like the name insinuates, the Chairman is in charge. This board can charge hard and blow past just about anything in it’s way. Carbon Max Laminate technology adds a premium stiff, snappy flex that adds a ton of power while the extended transition area and powergrip sidecut creates a sleek overall shape that slices through each carve for a precise, fast, powerful ride. Underfoot stabilizers and additional RDS1 dampening nearly eliminate all potential vibrations keeping you from feeling any unnecessary fatigue and the sintered P-Tex sidewall offers indestructible durability so you can slay the mountain with the comfort of knowing that your board can handle it. Ride like a boss this season on the Never Summer Chairman.

Pros

  • Can handle the big, fast lines
  • Smooth riding even at high speeds

Cons

  • Stiff flex not very forgiving
  • Aggressive shape and flex that is not ideal for smaller hills or freestyle riding

Never Summer Ripsaw / Ripsaw X

Never Summer Ripsaw at Windward Boardshop

When Never Summer builds a brand new camber profile specifically for one board, that says a lot. Never Summer Ripsaw was new in the NS line in 2015, and quickly became a favorite of powerful rippers everywhere. Constructed with their most aggressive camber, while still offering the benefits of their classic Rocker Camber flex, the Ripsaw boasts top of the line edge hold, insane pop and a true twin shape to boot. For the hard chargers out there who like to play on the entire mountain, this is the perfect board for you. Keep in mind the added camber creates a ton of stiffness so lighter weight riders may have a harder time controlling this beast, Those that really dig into their boards and charge hard will love the responsiveness and unbelievable pop. If you’ve been riding for a few decades and miss the days of good ‘ol fashioned stiff camber boards, then the Ripsaw is perfect for you.

Pros

  • Hard charging
  • Can handle any terrain

Cons

  • Very stiff
  • Not ideal for lighweight riders or beginners
