Karakoram was started by two brothers with a passion for the outdoors that has changed how we ride. Both with Mechanical Engineering degrees from the University of Washington, Tyler and Bryce Kloster set out on a mission in 2008. They challenged themselves to push backcountry gear
to the next level, starting with the Split30 splitboard system. They have not only revolutionized splitboard bindings
but they also created the first women’s specific splitboard binding. Karakoram is dedicated to the rider, which is why 91% of their products are made in the US by splitboard-minded people rather than a mindless machine in some other country. Another positive with Karakoram is that they are a smaller company which gives them an advantage to be able to listen to their consumers directly while continuously evolving the products. In August 2011, they partnered with Jeremy Jones which has benefited the revolution that is Karakoram. They will continue to produce top of the line, quality gear and they encourage anyone to voice their thoughts and ideas so that Karakoram can keep providing the best products.
