Description: Hoka One One Mach 2 Trail Running Shoes

The first Mach boasted the HOKA ONE ONE trio of benefits: maximum cushion and super responsiveness in a surprisingly lightweight package. The Mach 2 goes a step further with its PROFLY midsole. That's a PROFLY midsole made with rubberized foam, which makes for an even lighter and more resilient ride. And it uses an engineered, breathable mesh upper atop the responsive, stable package. This shoe is as fast as lightning and ready to race.

Features

  • Lightweight, open engineered mesh offers a comfortable fit and optimal breathability.
  • Lightweight, structured and breathable tongue.
  • Perforations for increased breathability across midfoot and forefoot
  • PROFLY outsole for a unique balance of PROpulsion and PROtection
  • Rubberized foam outsole for a lightweight, soft ground contact and responsive cushioning
  • Early stage Meta-Rocker for a smooth ride
  • Fits half size large

Specs

  • Best For: ROAD
  • Weight (US sz 9): 8.00 OZ
  • Heel-toe drop: 5.00 MM

Mach 2 Is The Real Deal
After running in several 2018 Hokas and liking them both (Elevon when I was paranoid about needing super support, and Clifton 5 which I loved but was still so plush and gave me a hot spot on long runs), I realized I needed a less-plush shoe for marathon race day. Mach 1 did not fit the bill, so I looked forward to trying on Mach 2. It is the real deal. However, it is absolutely a half size big, and for some will be a full size big (I returned my "normal" size for a half size down and still have plenty of room). This will be my marathon race day shoe thanks to its combination of a firm yet bouncy, stable ride and protection via stack height and that traditionally wide forefoot .

Perfect shoe! Corrected Mach flaws, but runs 1/2 size large.
My favorite shoe of all-time since I started running 15 years ago. Previous favorite show was the Huaka that was discontinued. Much better than previous version with more room in the toes, better fit in the arch, improved tongue, and laces that stay tied. Love running in these shoes from speed work to long runs. Perfect shoe for me!

Hoka shoes are NOT sprinters, they are joggers and triathletes, meaning their most responsive shoes like the Mach 2 (with the exception of the CRAZY fast carbon rocket) are a balanced for other companies. Personally I love these shoes. I am a student that runs fast. Period. I have to sit within hour long periods and I run 3 times a week, so like medium mileage, I run 5 miles or less each REAL run, get the pattern im a sprinter, so I should just get carbon rocket's right? WRONG. I also have to sit between periods in school and walk from class to class so I need some nice cushioning. TO avoid crazy bullying and mockery I also need some nice looks, these look like a cross between the Free RN 5.0, Yeezys, and Vapor Max, all of them being mainstream shoes, so I am spared the ridicule, plus I am respectable on the track. These shoes are GOLD. GOOOOLD. That aside, the only issue is that they are a half a size to large and maybe for some people don't have enough toe room.

Excellent running shoe! I've been looking or a replacement to the Huaka's I've been running in for the last three years. This shoe is close, it's got a wide toebox which I want, but it is quite wide through the rest of the shoe which I don't really want. I've fixed this by tightening the laces.
The responsiveness is great, it is a little squishier than the Huaka, but much better than most other Hoka shoes I've tried.
I will be buying another pair!

V2 too firm
The OG Mach is my go-to marathon racing and training shoe - lightweight, smooth transition and excellent cushioning, albeit a little on the narrow side. The Mach 2 widens the forefoot a tad and feels like it's made of more premium materials, however, the midsole is much firmer and I struggle to go beyond half marathon race distance with these. Loving the weight and transition of these shoes, just hoping v3 brings back the softness while remaining responsive.
