Good Running Jacket when Used as Intended
I have the 2017 version of this jacket. For me, this jacket is best for cool to colder temps and dry conditions. It also performs well in wind and light snow. This jacket is lightweight, it is not the most lightweight and packable jacket sold by Salomon, but still lightweight nonetheless. I prefer to wear it when I know I'll be keeping the jacket on for my entire run, otherwise I would switch to something more lightweight and packable. I've been wearing this jacket in temperatures ranging from a windy 50 degrees Fahrenheit, all the way down to colder 20 degree days. However, at 20 degrees I am wearing a proper base layer, I suspect others will not wear this piece in these colder temps, but it is working for me. The jacket offers good wind protection, and still breaths well in the warmer temps. It is not waterproof. It has performed okay in very light sprinkle, but if you are running for more than a mile or two in even light rains, this jacket will soak through. However, it has performed well in snow, and repels the snow just fine. Despite lots of miles on trails, durability has been as expected, it shows no signs of wear after several hundred miles of use, which includes brushing against thorn bushes on many occasions.

Accidentally tested durability!!!
Man oh man! I don’t write reviews, EVER! But let me tell you!!! I wore this ski jacket on a beautiful 50 degree ski run in April... you know when the snow begins to turn into CONPLETE ice... well, I completely ate it on a double black diamond that was way over my experience level. I tossed and tumbled down for 200 of the iciest yards of my life! I thought the jacket was going to be shredded when I finally came to a stop, but it WASNT! AWKWARDLY, my pants were... but this jacket pulled thru some sharp ice. Seriously, contact me if you want me to test product durability... I’d give this a 100 stars if I could as it saved my whole upper body from being a bloody mess!
