Loved these shows until the toes split
I loved these shoes for about 9 months. My feet didn't sweat in them, they are insanely comfortable, they look good enough to wear outside, and they are great for hiking.

Unfortunately, they are a poor choice for anyone who enjoys scrambling and jumping. The pressure from landing a jump onto a boulder from about 5 feet away was enough to split both toes, rendering them utterly non-waterproof.

I still wear them, because they are super comfy, but I am really bummed that they are destroyed after less than a year of wearing them once or twice a week. It's clearly a design defect, the plastic in this area should be more flexible, that kind of brittle plastic only makes sense in parts of the shoe that never have to flex.

Was a fan until my toe wore through
I have been wearing X Ultras (many pairs for about a decade and have hiked hundreds of miles in them over the years. The last pair I bought (about a year ago) and have only hiked in a few times, wore extremely fast and both toe areas have completely worn off. Also some stitching is coming apart and one of the laces has severed. I was very surprised and contacted costumer support. They informed me this is normal wear and tear and will not replace them. Needless to say I'm not impressed... Will be wearing Keen's from now on.

Great outdoor shoe
I bought these shoes for lighter hiking shoe and have loved them. Able to keep my feet dry while hiking on wet muddy trail and have very good grip on slick rocks. If hiking in dry climates, breathability might be an issue since these are GTX so I switch to my other pair of Salomoms

Nice shoes
I have a narrow foot and these fit a little tight in the forefoot area. I can't lace them snug or they would be uncomfortable. But as I wear them, they are getting less tight. And the garage for the lace is in a poor placement. The top strap goes over the garage making it difficult to insert. Soles are very solid. Good traction. Insole is comfrotable.

Support and Comfort
I lamented every finding a replacement for my Lowa hiking shoes. I have a C-width foot, and most recreational footwear is too wide. I decided to try on the X Ultra 3 gtx because Salomon is the only brand that ever made a cross-country ski boot that fit me properly. I have not been disappointed. As comfortable as my FootJoy Contour golf shoes and as much support as I need for moderate trails. Some may find the toggle-tug lacing system a bit foreign, but users of Salomon x-c ski boots will be in familiar territory, and I find it easier than conventional laces to give me a snug midfoot and a generous forefoot. My only complaint is that the goggle itself is excessively stiff.

Comfortable, mostly durable
I've owned a pair for about a year now, have around 300+ miles on them, the shoe is comfortable (all Salomon shoes/boots I've owned have been the most comfortable of anything I've owned, the sole is wearing much better than the Vasques these shoes replaced. Midsole still supportive, will be interested to see how long that lasts. My only gripe - a partial failure of the quick lacing system - one of the "laces" has become frayed and you can't move the slide lock past it. I can still get the shoe on and off but it is annoying - I will not get a quick lace shoe again.
