Over 300 miles thus far
First pair of Salomons for me and picked them up at the local running store, so there's nothing for me to compare to. That said, I trained for and ran a 50 miler in these on dirt / rock trails. Worked great. Kept me from slipping. Was comfortable the whole time (as much as could be I guess... but the shoe did its job!) Grew to love the lacing system after a few runs!

Excellent cush and toe box
I put some 180 miles so far on this shoe and it does exactly what the Salomon design team had in mind. Better cush than the Sense Ride and better (slightly wider toe box. I am a heavier runner (194p) and the cush is just right even in places with sharp granite (Tahoe Rim Trail). I've read comments about grip issues, but I did not have had problems in light mud and slightly wet rock. Again, I believe the designers were never intended or implied that this is a shoe to be used for wet rock or heavily muddy trails.

Great Cushion - Poor Grip
I got these so I could start putting in higher miles on the trail with a little extra cushion. They do exactly that! They are advertised as a dry surface shoe and they do OK with dry surfaces, throw in a little wetness and its like running on banana peels. I run a 7.5 in every Salomon shoe I've ever owned, but found these to be a tad roomy (if only a company made a true 40.5), which caused the speedlaces to cut into the top of my foot on some of my longer runs. I changed the socks I use when I run in these shoes and it appears to have completely eliminated the problem. At 250 miles the sole is starting to show the signs of the harsh New England trails, but I plan on getting another 150 out of them anyways. It looks like some of my issues may have been fixed with the addition of the Ultra Pro.

Ok design
Owned 3 pairs. Each pair feels completely different and they all fell apart within weeks of purchase.
Cushion is ok. Tread is poorly designed. Great toe box room. Cant use woth Salomon Gaiters without destroying your gaiters.
