suggest to purchase more current model
This boot was purchased to replace an old roggignol I've had for decades(back when boots were still made in italy.). Use both x-ski & nordic skating. It offers more support that my older boots. But, apparently these are 2106 model, and, word of caution, the 2017-2017 season have a much smaller zip lace plastic closure part for the speed laces. That plastic part on this older model is quite large and sits right on top the ankle bone (dorsal area), and you'll spend extra time trying to get it out off the center ankle bone otherwise you'll feel it dig in when flexing forward. As result I'm ordering a new current model set of speed laces, to replace the speed laces that came with this older model, which will make up any discount I was saving in purchasing this pair. I'm not a fan of speed laces, they have knack to break, too. I took note after my purchase that the X10 model has a higher cuff & the tongue comes up higher so perhaps the plastic part is not as critical as it is on the X5 which has lower cuff and lower tongue - in hind sight the X10 would have been a better boot to purchase. all of the newer models seem to have the small speed lace plastic part. The fit of the X5 boot is quite roomy (seems a wide last) for a women's specific model. I was expecting a bit lower volume. I fit a 38 good in length, but it's feeling wider than anticipated. I'm not a narrow foot, either, rather fall into normal measure: 24cm length x 9cm in width. I'm also near the end of the outer ankle cuff velcro strap which seems to only serve to snug in the outer upper cuff fabrics to keep snow & cold at bay. Maybe the zip lace would have been a better choice for cinching in the top cuff. Otherwise, the construction & materials are nice and durable, they feel light enough, and they are warm without question.
