The frame is made from 6061 T-6 Aluminum that is lightweight but still strong. Up front, there is an SR Suntour fork with 75mm of travel that is sure to be enough to smooth your ride on the bumpiest of trails. Shimano drive components will have you moving effortlessly through the gears while linear pull V-brakes are quick to bring you to a halt. Whether you are on the trails, street or singletrack you will appreciate the smooth ride that comes with 29-inch wheels and all-terrain tires.

More than sufficient
For the price, I don't know if you can find a better bike. It's perfect for my use of half road half trail riding.

Weight? Can't find weight for the timberline 2.0 anywhere... have already tried googling it. I assume its close to the TL 1.0 at ~32.4lbs. Thanks

GT basically never posts weights... which can be annoying. You are right that the weights will be in the same ballpark as the 1.0. I will be happy to weigh a Timberline 2.0 1st thing tomorrow morning and post my results.
