The FRAMED Minnesota 1.0 fat bike is your portal to an all new dimension of year round adventure! SRAM X4 1X9 - Framed decided to equip their entry level fat bike offering with the formidable SRAM X4 1x9 component group.  A 32t front chainring paired with a SRAM 11-32 9 speed cassette puts you in position to power up steep climbs and charge down the other side.  The X4 index shifter is precise and dictates the rear derailleur with command.  The long cage rear derailleur puts the chain exactly where you tell it to every shift, and stays clear of obstacles.

This Minnesota 1.0 is very aggressively priced at $699.95, but rest assured it's not short on quality. The frame set utilizes oversized 6061 alloy tubing and proven SRAM X4 components. The warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship, including manufacturing defects. Minnesota 1.0 Fat Bike
I bought this bike in September this year. I've not had it in the snow or sand yet but I will tell you that this bike rides awesome. It tracks well and is easy to maneuver even in tight spots.

Some reviews lacked some important information that I was looking for such as braking and shifting performance. The 1.0 is a nine speed and so far I have not found the need for anymore gears for the type of riding I do. I found that the SRAM shifters shift gears very nicely compared to other bikes I have owned. I can't see the reason for a 21 speed for this type of bike. I was impressed with the brakes stopping power but they do make a bit of noise went applied hard. I'm ok with that and I do believe you can upgrade if desired.

I personally did not like the grips it came with and bought SRAM replacements..... very happy with them!

If you have zero mechanical ability, pay the assembly fee. Otherwise do it yourself, it's not that bad.

I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. Worth the money. Hope this helps.

done gone fat
i was impressed with how it was boxed.bike had a lot of protection.like they were shipping a satellite.i have built up a bike from a frame so i did the assembly.one valve stem was way off on a angle so i deflated the tire to correct.both brakes needed a full adjustment.went over every fitting on the bike and found none loose.spokes are laced tight and the tires that came on this bike are 60 TPI. i wasn't excited about a black bike and couldn't tell in the pics but its a matte finish -which i like more than gloss.its a nice finish and some parts are powder coat.the only thing i didn't care for were the resin pedals which i replaced right off.shifting is fine and only the levers needed position adjustment.im really glad i got it and it was delivered quickly ups to michigan.its my first fatty and i enjoyed my first ride today.if you don't want to spend thousands id advise you to consider one.

Great bike, not without its flaws
I love this bike, it feels really sturdy, and is a lot lighter than I expected. I don't have any experience fat biking, so I can't speak on comparisons. But I will say the shifter is pretty slow to respond, even during cruising situations it is slightly annoying.
That said, upgrading the shifter isn't that expensive, And I've upgraded components on every bike I've owned, so not much different there. I preferred this bike to the 2.0 because o actually wanted the single chainring and not the double. In my opinion, the rear cassette covers all the basis I need.... So far.

All in all, really happy with it. Styled well, built well. Small upgrades and its a great bike.

Also, might need an upgrade in tires for winter, but they are ok for most other uses

Enjoying it
I've only had my 1.0 for 3 weeks but have been really enjoying it. It's wanting to stay straight and upright makes for a less tiring ride since you don't have to 'fight' the bike. Both my wife and 20 year-old son have ridden it and both have also enjoyed it. Service from The House was great - prompt delivery and very well packaged. Ionly have 2 complaints: one is I looked to buy front and rear mud guards but The Hose only supplies one - front I think. Other complaint - winter is coming to an end in NJ so will have to wait till next season to be the only one on the trails!

Had this phattie for 3 weeks now and have been loving every minute of it. Such a blast on the rocky New Hampshire single track. Upgraded the grips and pedals, stock ones are junk.

Nice bike, worth it!
Shipped fast, delivered on time and well packaged. Missing one tool to assemble pedals but I had another tool myself. A few dings on the rims, but not that big a deal. Biggest problem was the front wheel reflector broke off less than 2 minutes after riding it, but I don't really need it so it's not that big a deal, just a little unsettling...Ride is smooth and fun, easy gear changes, brakes great, corners well, pretty sure its even better uphill than my regular mountain bike...right off its a great bike, if you want you can get better pedals and a softer seat, but these would be personal things, and not something you need to do.

BEST ANSWER: The Main differences between the 1.0 and the 2.0 would be a 9 speed v.s. an 18 speed. There is also a noticeable component upgrade as well as more color choice, and the available Fattie Slims tire set!
Are the wire bead tires 120 tpi? Are they the Same as the tires that come with the MN 2.0 bikes?

BEST ANSWER: Doug, the tires that come with the 2015 Minnesota 1.0 are going to be the same as the 2015 Minnesota 2.0. They both have Minnesota tires that are indeed 120 tpi. Hope this helps.

BEST ANSWER: Not really. You'd be surprised how versatile the fat bike really is. Better grip, more stable ride, built in shock absorbers. You can't go wrong with the Framed Minnesota 1.0 Fat Bike.

The realistic limit on these bikes is around 280 pounds. Framed suggests the absolute ceiling is 300.

BEST ANSWER: i've only had my 1.0 for a few months but so far it's proven a good bike all around - road or trails or snow. i'm considering buying an extra pair of narrower wheels for summer use only because i'd like to save the wider tires for snow riding.
I'm 6'2" and have back problems. Can I swap out the handlebars for a more upright position?

BEST ANSWER: thats what i did.i got a riser bar that was also a bit shorter (span) and put on a different stem that moved the bar closer to me.so i was more up-right and my hands werent as far apart.gravity light bar 31.8/40/710 and a raceface stem is what i got.-john

I'm 6'1" with a 32" inseam looking at a framed fat bike. I'm curious what size to get?

BEST ANSWER: I am 6' with a 31 inch inseam. I have the 19" frame. I can barely stand over the top bar. So i wish i had got the 17 inch frame. The 19 will be a bit tight and cloes to giving you a high voice if you know what I mean.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, I think you would be ok on this size. I am 5'6 with a 30" inseam an I have plenty of stand over height. I think you should consider your inseam over your height. If you can, go to a local bike shop and try a bike with a small frame with fat tires or 29" inch tires.

I am only and inch taller, and just rode 2 1.0s. You are sort of between sizes, but I think the 15" 1.0 will be the best fit. If you look at a 2.0 you will want the larger size (it has a snugger cockpit).

BEST ANSWER: YEs, that's correct, it's a regular riding bike, you'll need to look at the 3.0s, and the 2.0s and specifically look for the models with the front shocks.

BEST ANSWER: it is actually almost easier to ride on sand and soft dirt than it is on pavement. The tires are so large that it glides over sand.

On pavement there is a lot of resistance from those big tires you peddle harder.

But I think its a great bike. Be sure to measure your inseam to know whether to get the 17" or the 19 " frame. I'm 6' foot and the 19" frame is almost to big.

BEST ANSWER: Generally speaking mountain bike frames are not gender specific. Some of the larger brand names do manufacture female specific designs. Buy a bike based on your stand over measurement and take it to a reputable shop to adjust if you don't know how. Gender specific seats, shorter stems, different bars can all help make a custom cockpit for your measurements.

As to rhe assembly. I got the assembly and it came reasy to ride. I dont know how mich assembly would be required but i would think tou have to put most of it together.
Can you tell me the Specific size headset used on this bike? I am trying out a suspension fork and need to get a crown race.

I am a novice with bikes with gears. What is the difference between Single front gears and double?

Steve's answer is good. A single front gear will be 1 chain ring in the front. Double front gears will be two gears that the chain can switch back and forth from. Basically a double front gear will double the amount of gear options on your bike. This Minnesota 1.0 has 1 gear in the front, and 9 in the rear. I like that. It is lighter and simpler to use.

There is not a spare wheel set included with this bike but you can purchase one of the Fattie Slim wheel sets to go along with this bike making it more versatile.
Is the 15" frame really that much different than the women's 15" minnesota 1.0 frame? My wife is not digging the girls bike colors. If it is different, can we request different colors?

You would need to assemble the front tire, handlebars, pedals, and seat. The most important part is that all the components will need alignment. This needs to be done carefully. People mistakenly think this is simple and wreck their bikes. If you pass on the build option take your bike to a local shop to finish it. If you do not have your bike built by an actual tech Framed will not honor your warranty.... it is that important.
