Description: Alaskan XL Bike Pedals

Whether you are flowing through hardpack, or pushing hard through snowpack; the Framed Alaskan XL Bike Pedal will keep even the most clydsdale of rider in control of their fatty. The open CNC-machined body is wider and burlier than our standard Alaskan pedal to accomodate a clydesdale hoof, or large winter boot. Its profile still gives you plenty of clearance for cornering and riding in uneven terrain.

Key Features of Alaskan XL Bike Pedals:
  • Material: 6061 Aluminum Alloy
  • Spindle: Chromoly; 9/16
  • Spins on sealed bearings
  • Removable grip pins
  • Weight: 204 g

good pedals, till I broke one...
Had seen mixed reviews on these pedals and am not a weight weenie or hyper critical of performance so when I was outfitting my Framed Alaskan, I thought 'What the heck?' and stuck with the same name brand. To be fair, I weigh about 225 lbs, but I also don't do crazy drops or hit more than about 35-45 MPH on descents. In any event, I'm not sure if I clipped something or if it was just metal fatigue but the pedal axle sheered off right after the 15mm flat. Rather than buy another set or launch into hours of new pedal research, I opted to repair the axle by center drilling the two pieces in my lathe, pinning them in line with 0.250" tool steel, then TIG welding the pieces together. The repair is satisfactory thus far but am a little nervous about the future of the unmodified left pedal. Will keep you posted. Love the bike though. Very pleased overall.

The weight listed as 204g. I'm thinking that's each right. 408g for the pair?
