Great waterproof bag
I love my bag and have used it as a carryon and I use it as a university student. I can carry plenty in it, including a 15 inch laptop, books, jacket, water bottle, and plenty of pens, tools, snacks.
I don't recommend it for one bag tavel, the top loading is not convenient for that. However, the waterproofing is amazing and has held up in rain, snow, and even me falling into a pool beneath a waterfall while traveling in Hawaii. EVERYTHING STAYED DRY. The laptop compartment not in the main compartment, but I really like the positioning and the way it adds to the frame. Typically this is fine, but to be safe when it is really rainy I put it in the main compartment.
Straps are comfortable, I LOVE the passport/valuables pocket.
The water bottle pocket is a bit small for something as thick as a hydroflask, but you can cram it in there or utilize the endless space in the pack. I used to have a Patagonia bag that I really loved but this one is better (and I used them both EXTENSIVELY and through lots of rain).
Stellar bag.

Great backpack, just not comfortable for heavy trips
I so wish I could have kept this wonderful pack! I returned it because I found that the straps weren't comfortable enough for my commuting needs. I carry a 15" laptop, tablet and lunch every day. If I didn't need to bring my laptop to work with me, the pack would be just perfect. Loved everything about it other than the straps.

Can this fit underneath the seat of an airplane?

BEST ANSWER: 32L Backpack will fit in the overhead bin as a carry on. If this bag is packed it won't fit under an airplane seat.
