The History of Volcom

Volcom was founded in 1991 by Richard ‘Wooly’ Woolcott and Tucker ‘T-Dawg’ Hall. While on a snowboard trip, Richard and Tucker came up with the idea to start a clothing company based on the action sports they loved. Shortly after, the Volcom stone was created.

Volcom brand and distribution started out of their homes as they traveled around and spread the word in the early days. The Volcom idea was based on the philosophy of the times, “youth against establishment’. It’s main reasoning was to enhance creative thinking among the younger generation providing a means for individuals to come together and collectively express themselves.

Revolving around the surf, skate and snowboard culture, Volcom is now one of the largest lifestyle brands in the industry.

The snow, skate, sup industry has always been something I've surrounded myself with. I absolutely love the community that comes with it, how it embodies action sports, fashion, music and having a good time all in one. I'm happy to have worked in the industry for many years now and I consider myself a reflection of the industry and love learning/teaching others about how super sweet it is.
