The Best Spring Snowboard Resorts

Spring is approaching quickly and we’re all realizing we didn’t get to snowboard nearly as much as we had hoped for this season. Looks like it’s time to book a trip for some at a shred-ready spring snowboard resort! We all know the key regions to hit up for the thick of the season, but who’s got the best warm weather – late season – t-shirt status snowboarding? We’ve got your list below.

Cold powder days are amazing but let’s be honest, there is something pretty magical about snowboarding on a sunny 50 degree afternoon too. Soft snow and goggle tans are hands down the best way to wrap up your boarding season and we’re about to supply you with a list of places where you can get just that. When it comes to spring riding, the season is just about to begin. Set that low fare finder and get a flight booked!

Whistler-Blackcomb, British Columbia, Canada

Our friendly neighbors to the north house two of the most epic mountains in the world, side by side, Whistler and Blackcomb in western Canada. Outstanding any time of year, yes, but Blackcomb is open until July?! That means there is still plenty of time to head up north and get some at one of these outstanding resorts. With over 8,000 combined acres, 100+ trails each and averaging over 40 feet of snow per year, these resorts are a must for every spring riding bucket list.

Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon

About an hour and a half from Portland sits a gorgeous resort perched on a lot of national forest land that we know as Mount Hood Meadows. Many would argue that Hood is the best all season long, but thanks to the positioning of the resort, on the super sunny and wind-protected side of the mountain, Hood is especially good in the late winter and early spring months. Home to the High Cascade Summer Camp series, that runs all the way thru August, spring shred is guaranteed to be awesome at this west coast resort. The regular season runs thru the end of April and summer starts up just after that. Plenty of time to head west and enjoy all that Hood has to offer.

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe, California

Making our way down the west coast, the next stop for some killer warm-weather riding is the always beautiful Lake Tahoe. Surrounded on all sides by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe is a place to visit any time of the year. With an elevation over 10,000 feet, Heavenly sits at the highest point of all 3 Lake Tahoe resorts. Open thru mid-April, Heavenly has almost 100 trails that range from beginner style cruisers to super steep chutes and backcountry opportunities as well. If you are feeling up to some exploration, there are lift tickets that you can purchase that will give you access to North Star and Kirkwood too, so if you are heading to Tahoe for several days, you can ride wherever you want. For the ultimate spring sesh, book your trip during the Spring Loaded festival. Music, pond skimming and a likely chance of snowboarders in bikinis.

Mt. Bohemia, (Upper Peninsula) Mohawk, Michigan

We know what you’re thinking. A midwest resort is making the list? We promise that we are not being partial and adding it for selfish reasons, this resort is legit. With over 400 acres of completely un-groomed territory and a bold “No Beginners Allowed” policy, Mt. Bohemia is certainly a Midwest force to be reckon with. Nestled high up north in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a short jump from Lake Superior, Mt. Bohemia has over 80 runs packed with trees, cliff drops and enough natural terrain to keep any back country enthusiast happy. And don’t take that 900 foot elevation lightly, the entire resort is black and double black diamonds, only. To really take your U.P. experience to the next level – get a crew of friends, rent out one of the trailside yurts and get your camp on.

Brighton, Utah

Originally opening in 1936, with nothing but a rope tow, Brighton is located in Big Cottonwood Canyon just 30 miles from Salt Lake City. Known for some of the best tree runs in Utah, Brighton is a true snowboarders (and skiers) resort – not wasting money on bold advertising, they let the resort speak for itself. Open thru mid-April, Brighton is a perfect destination for a season ending trip. With over 1,000 acres of lift accessible terrain and miles of natural, breathtaking features, Brighton is certainly one to add to your spring shred hit list.

I've been immersed in the skate and snowboard industry since I was 15 years old and have learned so much along the way. I enjoy being on the other side of the counter now where I can share that knowledge and keep that next generation hyped on the activities that I love so much!
