Orangatang Wheels – Products We Love

A big name in the longboard wheel game is Orangatang Wheels. With their small yet thorough line, they offer a perfect wheel for every type of rider. In this article, we will break down what each wheel does best so you can find the future wheel of your dreams.

First piece of important info – each wheel that O’tang makes is offered in 3 different levels of hardness (or durometer). Harder wheels offer a more rigid, responsive ride while softer wheels are more forgiving and great for cruising. Each wheel in the line is available in 80a Orange (soft and grippy), 83a Purple (harder, faster and better for sliding), and 86a Yellow (fastest and best for sliding).

65MM Fat Free

  • Designed for freeriding.
  • Grip when you need it and great for sliding. Good all-aroud wheel.
  • Rounded inner and outer with stiff flex.
  • Clean, chatter free slides
  • Will ride slightly rougher due to it’s size.

70MM For President

  • Designed for speedboarding, carving, slalom and commuting.
  • Subtle lip shape for increased grip.
  • The rider has to wear down the grip by sliding to create a smoother slide surface. (will not be smooth right away)
  • Great for maintaining grip at high speeds.

70MM Stimulus

  • Designed for freeriding.
  • Rounded inner and outer lips with a stiffer flex for chatter free slides.
  • Fairly wide contact patch for better grip.
  • Essentially, a larger Fat Free.

75MM Durian

  • Designed for freeriding.
  • Wide contact patch for grip.
  • Clean slide initiation and largest slide wheel in the line.
  • Intended to build confidence with it’s predictability.(again, larger Fat Free or Stimulus)

75MM In Heat

  • Designed for speedboarding, carving, slalom and commuting.
  • Hard, sharp edges for grip.
  • Rippled inner walls for energy return. (that’s what she said.)
  • Great for road courses due to the size and wide contact patch.
  • Sturdy, fast wheel.

I've been immersed in the skate and snowboard industry since I was 15 years old and have learned so much along the way. I enjoy being on the other side of the counter now where I can share that knowledge and keep that next generation hyped on the activities that I love so much!
