Holden Winter 2013 Outerwear Review

Holden, was founded in Portland Or. in 2002 by pro snowboarders Mikey LeBlanc and Scott Zergebel. Although Holden does not claim to be an eco-friendly company, they do make many strides to minimize their carbon footprint. Part of that effort involves using recycled fabrics and materials, some of which they make in house. One of the many great things about Holden is that not only do they make products that serve a purpose, such as waterproofing and breathability in their jackets and pants, they also take a very stylistic approach to their garments. They limit patterns, colors and designs to ultimately create a garment that in three years from now will still continue to look in style and fresh.

We’ve gone ahead and picked out a sample of some of our favorite pieces from the Winter 2013 Holden mens line that you can find in store or online at Windward today. Stay tuned for more Holden to roll in soon.

Puffy Down Jacket

Holden’s Puffy Down Jacket combines the best of both worlds, just like the classic Jay Z + R Kelly album, with style and function. This snowboarding jacket is packed with 550 down fill and a 10k waterproof rating making it the warmest jacket in their collection. The best part is that it does not look like your typical snowboarding jacket. You can easily standout from the pack during winter time by not wearing a black North Face jacket like every other peep on the streets. And the puffiness gives the illusion of muscles which the ladies love.

The Quick Dry Hoodie

At first glance The Quick Dry Hoodie looks just like a regular hoodie. Oh but it’s so much more. The Quick Dry Hoodie again is another example of style and function. Wear it on the street or wear it on the mountain. The Quick Dry Hoodie is constructed of a technical-wicking french terry (science) which pulls moisture (stinky sweat) from your body to keep you dry (not gross). It’s designed to function as layering under your outerwear, and is wearable everyday as a go to item for any wardrobe. Oh and 6 out of 5 girls agree they love this hoodie on men.

Shawl Collar Sweater

The Shawl Collar Sweater is not just for the dapper gent. It’s perfect for the boy that wants to become a man. Or any guy that wants to add some serious steez to his arsenal. If you are not a baller but definitely want to look like one, or look like someone that actually owns books not just for the pictures then the Shawl Collar Sweater is the must have item for this season. Beard and confidence not included.

So there you have it. This is just a small sample of the 2013 line. Check out more of the collection here or in-store. Styles and quantities are limited so act fast!

I've been immersed in the skate and snowboard industry since I was 15 years old and have learned so much along the way. I enjoy being on the other side of the counter now where I can share that knowledge and keep that next generation hyped on the activities that I love so much!
