Description: Rossignol XV Magtek Wide Snowboard

The all-new XV MAGTEK is Xavier de le Rue's big-mountain brainchild, designed for attacking the biggest and boldest lines. AmpTek All-Mountain combines traditional camber between the inserts with moderate tip and tail rocker for increased stability, versatility and float. Magne-Traction 7M delivers continuous tip-to-tail edge hold, enhancing control in the gnarliest conditions. Super-stiff up front, the XV drives through the most challenging snow, with a nimble, playful tail for maneuvering tight spots. With CBF, the XV flows smooth edge-to-edge and delivers incredible power, helping Xav push the boundaries of big-mountain riding.

looks like a good carving board for rough terrain. stiff in the front to plow through ice and crud. but also has a bow curve to float through powder.

How does this board stack up to lib's Darker series in terms of east coast on-piste conditions (Read: ice-powder-slush all in one run)? Also, is the stiffness an issue at lower speeds in terms of catchiness? I have young ones and would bring a different board for those rare days with the kids when my wife doesn't also come along and therefore I'm not free to be dad of the year and take off on everybody...

BEST ANSWER: I test rode both of them in Utah. It wasn't a great day of snow, had some icy patches and some softer stuff at lower elevations.

i thought this one was better at cruising through everything. Whether it was nice packed snow, lumpy stuff, or ice, it cruised through. The Darker series was nice and had some good pop, but I didn't feel it had the same ability to plow through as much

I didn't notice any problems with it when moving slow (through congested areas, etc.), but most of the time on the board I was really testing it hard to see if it could hold up (it did). I bet it wouldn't be the easiest board to coast around on slowly, as it is pretty stiff and loves going fast, but its an awesome board.

Hope this helps
Can I put burton bindings on the board? They're just your basic 3 screw plate bindings, the burton customs from 2012.

BEST ANSWER: This Rossignol XV Magtek uses the standard 4 hole mounting system. Your bindings may have come with a 4 hole plate in addition to the 3D system. Otherwise they will NOT be compatible.
Does this board support a 300 pound man with size 16 feet?
