does it matter what kind of bindings get with what ever board I get?

Yes. Snowboard companies use a few different mounting systems, and you will want to make sure the binding is compatible to that system. If you are looking at a specific board I can help you make sure it will work. For example.... this Capita Volcom Pro Snowboard uses the standard 4-Hole mounting pattern.

The widths of these boards (each size is different) are listed in the grid toward the bottom of the web-page. Only the 159cm length will be wide enough for you boot. For the most part 11.5+ boots will require a wide snowboard:
