Staff Review

Dave here at The House, talking about the Vans Encore snowboard boot. What you are looking at here is basically a high standard with a Boa. Super, super good selling snowboard boot, a lot of value in here for sure.
What you’re looking at, sole on this one is going to be the Vans light. It’s mostly phylon in all these black areas, and then the yellow, green and red will be rubber, really good at gripping ice. But, they use the phylon, most of it, to keep the weight down. From there, you got the Rasta color way. This one is the ‘bad brains’ Rasta color way. So, definitely going to be a very hot selling color way, I probably won’t be hold on to these to terribly long, I imagine.
That rolls into the main feature, which is the Boa. Basically, Boa just makes it really easy to get your snowboard boots as tight as you want them to be, they are not going to loosen up throughout the day. This is nice, because this one has included the coiler, which eliminates the one thing I didn’t like about my Boa snowboard boots, which is when you pull the tongue out, you have to sit there forever to crank the cable back in. The coiler actually will retract it in there, so you that you don’t have to do this quite as much. Other than that, very durable, very proven system the Boa is. It’s 29 strands of stainless steel, definitely going to hold up to any kind of abuse that you can throw at it.
Outer on this one, is going to be a mixture of cordura and then the synthetic leather. Definitely very water proof. A very, very lightweight snowboard boot. Into the interior, you got a 3D molded tongue, a really good at sucking up next to the shin. It’s not going to deform under the pressure of the Boa. It provides really good fit. It does have a lace harness as well too, something I consider a necessity on my snowboard boots. It just keeps the liner and your foot pulled into the back of the snowboard boot, rather than the ones that have the laces on liner, where you’re just securing your foot in the liner itself. Speaking of that, I’ve got a very nice heat multiple liner from them. This one’s body heat active, so you just ‘rock’ them and they mold to your foot as you wear them. Got a lycra panel in the toe here, it’s going to let you wiggle your toes circulating the blood flow out to the extremities of the foot, which will keep you warmer than a battery powered sock would. You got some nice reinforcement right around the ankle here.
Once again, to provide good heal hold, and stiffen it up just a tad. 3D molded tongue on the liner as well. There’s Velcro on the one side just to keep it from shifting while you’re riding. And has a nice deep ankle pocket in this one, really going to give you good heal hold there as well too. Into the insole, real nice dual component, you got nice soft foam, really deep heal counter, nice arch support, then they put in the extra soft stuff in just to give you more swish on the landings, kind of acts like a suspension when you are riding. I love the Vans snowboard boots. This one is a very solid seller for us, and this color way is definitely probably not going to make until Christmas.
The Vans Encore snowboard boot.

  • "Curious if they ride as good as they feel"

    , APO, AK
Pros: Comfortable right out of the box, BOA lacing is quick, Simple style Cons:

I have only been able to try these on in the store, but they felt great there and I would like to see how they do on the mountain. I hve been riding Burton Rulers for years now and love the speed zone lacing system, but the last pair I bought keeps bothering me with a pressure point from the top of the tongue into my shin.

  • "Not Bad"

    , GLENDALE, CA
Pros: Nice Look, BOA is very convenient, Cons: BOA system loosens up after a short run,

I really like the look and feel of the boot, it does run a little tight on one of my feet, but it's bearable. The only real issue I have with the boot is that the BOA system loosens up after a short run. It's pretty annoying and probably a little dangerous if you're doing any high speed runs. Overall though, the boot is not bad, I might just have a defective BOA system.

  • "Good Boot"

    , FORT MONTGOMERY, NY
Pros: Good feel , Cons: NONE,

These are really comfortable. The only con is once you tighten the inner lacing it can still slide loose. I believe RIDE and Burton have a place to lock in the inner lace so it doesn't slack after hours of riding. BOA is the way to go. The old school laces are a pain to tighten up. Getting them on and off is a cinch. Even walking around in them they have great grip so you don't slip on that little hill from hanging up your board and walking to the bar. Ha I pity those silly boots the plankers wear!

  • "Good boot for a good price"

    , KIRKLAND, WA
Pros: Comftorable, Easy boa system, Cons:

I bought these boots a few weeks ago to replace my 07 salomon boots... I must say the encores blow away the salamons. The salomons were a bit more comfy walking around the mountain but when it comes to riding i love the encores. So much more control then what i had before.

  • "Not Impressed"

    , SCOTTS VALLEY, CA
Pros: Boa System, Cons: Too Stiff, Cheaply Made,

The stitching that holds the boa system in place started coming apart on the second week of riding, by month two the boot wouldn't get tight around me foot at all. I also think I might not like this boot as much cuz the guy in the store told me that the boot would soften out a lot after a couple weeks of breaking them in, that never happened. This boot might work for some, but it didn't work for me.

  • "Great boot!"

    , CALISTOGA, CA
Pros: easy in and out, comfortable, BOA system Cons: none,

These boots are great!! love them. Very easy to get in and out of with the BOA system. They hold your heal great and they are very comfortable. Overall they are a great boot

  • "Love the BOA system"

    , SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Pros: So easy to adjust, Easy in and out, Cons: Can only adjust one zone,

The BOA system is amazing. It allows you to adjust on the go (if you can keep your balance) and whilst on lifts or in gondolas you can loosen your boot quickly to give your feet a rest. The only drawback is that you can only adjust the whole boot, there is no zone tightening like with some Burton boots, but if you get the right tension then these boots are good for all day riding. They are also quite flexible, so hanging out in a bar whilst or after riding is not a problem and you dont look like a walking pigeon like people who wear ski boots

  • "Decent boot..."

    , SEATTLE, WA
Pros: Looks good, Boa system hasn't failed me... yet, Cons: Some tears in the outer part of the boot, Feels pinched on the top,

Not too shabby of a boot, though will be looking for a different one for next season. After maybe a dozen trips down the mountain, there have been some holes/rips that have shown up on the outer part of the boot. Nothing that let's moisture in too bad, but I can tell it will only be a matter of time. Also it feels that the top of the boot pinches my leg, despite hours of trying to play with it and getting it set right. Either it's too loose and feels sloppy, or just right with a hint of pain.

  • "Great Look, Excellent Boot"

    , South San Fraicosc, CA
Pros: Great Boot, Love the BOA Coiler system, Stylish Cons:

I have used a pair of these boots the last 2 times i went up. and each time i always get complimented on their sleek look. Overall these boots are supportive yet comfortable and would recommended them to any beginner/intermediate rider.

  • "Great quick boots"

    , Centerport, NY
Pros: Quick, Easy, Cons: Hurts top of my foot,

I like these boots a lot. BOA system is very quick and easy. My only problem is that it hurts the top of my foot after a while, but when my dad tried them he didnt feel it. May be just the shape of my foot. But overall they are great boots.

  • "Nice boots"

    , AL
Pros: look cool, good support, warm Cons: narrow,

I got these boots last year and they still look brand new. Everytime I use them, my feet stay really warm. The only complaint I have about these boots are that sometimes they are hard to get on because they are pretty narrow. I'm not sure if that is just because I might have wider feet or not, but i would recommend possibly getting a half size bigger than your regular show size to make sure they fit.

  • "Watch the fit"

    , Exton, PA
Pros: awesome feel, boa system is great, feel warm Cons: too small,

I had to reorder these boots twice because they are kinda small. The Boa system is great for getting that snug fit but the footbed is way short. I had to order one size larger than my regular skate shoe to get a pair that fit. In comparison, my old Burton Motos were an 11.

  • "Vans"

    , AL
Pros: BOA System, Comfortable, Cons: Will come loose, Not the most responsive, Not good looking boots

These boots are very comfortable. The BOA system is super easy to use. But it will definetly come loose sometimes, so you have to make sure you keep it tightened up. The inner layer seemed like it would not get tight enough to my liking, so you lose some response there. Overall they are very comfortable and easy to use boots, but if you need pinpoint response you should look somewhere else.

  • "Nice boot"

    , WALNUT, CA
    Pros: comfortable, boa, Cons:

I tried the boots on the trails first time today. They are comfortable and fit nicely. I would recommend them to my friends.

  • "Loose at first"

    , HOLMDEL, NJ
Pros: Price is good, Single BOA, No pressure points Cons: Too loose towards the top,

The other reviewer was right. These boots are too loose above the ankles. I was promised they would conform better and be able to tighten to fit after a few runs but I wasn't gonna take any chances. The boots are very nice and fit well but the wiggle room was kind of weird. I would have bought these if I knew for sure they would fit better down the road...

  • "aight"

    , AL
Pros: boa, durable, Cons: not snug, ugly,

these boots are really easy to get in n out cuz of da boa system, n da boot itself is pretty durable but most important thing is missing, the snug fit. These barely hold your ankles in place, and my feet were aching pretty bad and i had to get the DC park boots which were great If you have pretty big ankles, I would recommend it
