Staff Review
Dave, here at The House, talking about the
Salomon Savage snowboard boot. A really, really cool snowboard boot.
Very quick to get in and out of. It's got a speed lace system on the outside and on the liner too. A really, really good, comfortable snowboard boot, right out of the box. What we're looking at here is, like I said, speed lacing runs up the front of it. It's super easy to do. You just pull the handle tight, it snugs right into this little lace lock, right here, it keeps them, you know, at the same tension throughout the day. It's, definitely, a lot easier than fumbling with the laces you see on a traditional snowboard boot. The sole on this one. It, definitely, has a fifty-fifty mix of filon and rubber. They use rubber in the target areas to give you really good grip, a good hold on ice. But then, they use the filon through the rest of the snowboard boot to keep the overall weight of the sole down. This is, definitely, a very, very light weight snowboard boot.
Moving to the outer. You've got a three D molded tongue, as you'll see on all their snowboard boots. It's, definitely, good at sucking into the shin, holding to the top of the foot. Like I said, the speed lacing system, on this one, is super, super slick. Just pull the handle to get into it. To get out, just pull it down, that loosens it up. Super, super quick in and out time with this snowboard boot. From there, you move into a really, really nice liner. It's actually got elements of heat moldable and traditional sewn liner into it. It will custom mold to your foot, but it also is a really, really good out of the box fit as well, too. This one has their wrapping system. You can see these little webbing structures go all the way to the back of the snowboard boot, along the back stay and then to the sole. So, when you tighten up on the lace, which, like I say, is also a quick lace. The toggle is, actually, built into the tongue of it. When you pull on that, it just wraps the whole thing right around your foot. A really, really comfortable liner on this one. On the interior, you're going to have the furry cuff. You're,definitely, going to get some style points, rocking on the top, here. Also, it's really, really comfortable at the top of the liner.
Salomon always has really nice, deep heel pockets, which really is going to grab your Achilles well., keep you from moving around in the snowboard boot. They do add a directional nap lining at the bottom of this one, to keep the sock in place, and keep your heel from moving. On the back, too, of the liner, there will be a Velcro patch that corresponds to one on the inside of the snowboard boot. So that, also, is keeping your foot and the liner where it should be in the snowboard boot.
From there, you've got a level two insole form. You start getting some, actual, heel countering and some arch support going in this one. It's, definitely, going to have some shock absorption going for it, as well, too. Flex on the bad boy, it, definitely, is going to be a higher end snowboard boot. I would say, you're looking for an intermediate to advanced rider, you know, it, definitely, can be freestyle or free-ride. Support on this one is probably going to be sitting somewhere around, I would say, like, a six, maybe six-and-a-half, range. So, definitely, really, really versatile as far as the all-mountain terrain goes.
A super awesome snowboard boot. TheĀ
