Staff Review
Dave here at The House talking about another awesome snowboard boot from
Salomon, the
Salomon Faction snowboard boot. You’ve probably heard this in other
Salomon videos, but I’ll say it again -
Salomon has pretty much the best out-of-the-box fit in the industry. You really can just rock them right out of the box and take them to the slopes, and they’re super, super comfortable.
What we’re looking at here is the Faction. Stiffness scale on this one I’m probably rocking it, my own personal rating, about like maybe three or four, somewhere in that range. Definitely going to be good for I would say the entry-level to intermediate rider. It’s going to work for freestyle, free ride, powder, ice, very, very versatile snowboard boot for sure. What we’re looking on this one, on the outer part we got leather and corduroy construction, definitely going to be nice and waterproof, very durable.
Roll into the contra grip sole. Super, super good at getting you traction on icy hard pack terrain, definitely a pretty lightweight sole too. Moving into this part we’ve got a 3D molded tongue, definitely nice, not going to deform when you get the pressure of the speed lace going on it. It does have, like I said, a speed lace system which is extremely easy to use. All you do to get into the snowboard boots is pull up and cam-lock it in; to get out, pull it down and pull the tongue out. You’re ready to go. Super, super easy on that. And then also on the liner, basically almost an identical system to the liner as well. Nice thing about
Salomon is they’ll actually attach the slide hardware to the tongue itself so it’s always where you need it to be. Just like I said, super quick in and out time with this one.
Salomon will always have a really deep heel pocket, which you can’t see on this all-black snowboard boot, just trust me it’s there. Really good at holding your ankle, keeps your heel from lifting, and gives you the precise control that you need out there on the slopes. Got Velcro on the back here that’s going to correspond to a Velcro tab on the back of the outer of the snowboard boot. Obviously it keeps the liner from moving up and down, just an increase in the heel hold that I already mentioned.
And then finally we’ve got just the basic shim insole. Most of their support will be done in their liners. That’s where they put a lot of their time and effort. This is just going to aid in shock absorption, definitely taking up a lot of that shatter or any kind of icy hard pack landings you might be doing. Definitely a super nice snowboard boot, really easy on and off, good price point, can’t say enough things about it; theĀ
Salomon Faction snowboard boot.
