Key Features of the Rome Taipan Snowboard Softshell Jacket:
I bought this just before I went boarding in Breck a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm. Over two days, we had 21 of snow coming down and this jacket with the 15,000mm waterproofing kept me completely dry. For a soft shell, this also kept me very warm. I just had a base layer of thermals and a thicker sweatshirt under this jacket and it was very comfortable.
The magnetic buttons that keep the zipper covered up were a nice feature, though I wish there were a couple more pockets. A plastic covered pocket in the sleeve for the season pass would be nice.
Lastly, I got the white dirt print and was a bit concerned about camouflaging in the snow. Not an issue. In the videos that my buddy took, I can see that I shouldn't have been worried. I love the print and the way it fits with my overall look (grey pants, burton custom 2009 board with white cartel ESTs) :
The jacket is well fitted and true to size. If you're planning to add thick layers of thermal underneath then go a size larger. This fitted me fine and i'm only planning to wear one layer of thermal. The length is good, not too short or too long. There isn't a waist strap to block out the snow though, so there is a possibility for snow to ride up your back when you fall
