Steven P: If you look at the picture, the aluminum heel loop wraps around and goes under the ball of the feet. The actual base is mostly aluminum with a plastic base plate and plastic aesthetics. Don't let plastic stop you from buying these. I've ridden them both in the park and back country since 08 and I have never had an issue with any rome 390 binding ever to the point where I'm apprehensive to try bindings from other companies because these are so solid. Roy MStaff: THe Rome 390 Snowboard Bindings has a conventional, 4x4, baseplate. As such it will not work in conjunction with the Burton Channel system. Oct 15, 2013
