This Red Trace 2 Snowboard is both extremely well built and very versatile. Its Durable Injected ABS Shell helps make this helmet one of the most durable ones available on the market. Its Removable Ear Pads give you the option to choose whether or not you find them necessary. The vents and vent plugs also give you the option to choose what you find necessary. This helmet is all about options. Wear it as you like!
Very comfortable in all conditions. Bought this for my wife and she loves it!!! NO Gaper Gap!!Goggle can be worn in or out, but we prefer out with its good goggle strap.Matte Black can be easily decorated and doesn't scratch easily. A Mr. Clean sponge will make this look brand new again. Love the bottle opener mounted to the helmet (looks like a chrome vent cover). Runs true to size and is a good solid piece of gear
I got the black one from last year and it was really great. It was lightweight and had perfect amount of padding inside. It was low profile to so it doesn't look bad on your head at all. Works well with goggles. It saved me from getting bad concussions at least 3 times. It does not get to hot at all. The holes give great air flow so your head is not hot at all. I lost my goggle strap holder because i fell and hit my head super hard and it flew off and landed in the snow. But i gave red a quick email and they sent me a replacement super fast and for free.
the vents are great enough to let the hot air escape so my head never gets too hot, as compared to wearing a beanie. the padding around my ears also keeps them warm unlike other helmets. this helmet has definitely saved when i miss a jump. it's taken a few good hits but it definitely still has what it takes to save my dome
i love this helmet it fits great is fairly light and comfortable. i love the headphon compartment in the earpads, they make special ones for it but earbuds work fine. the only con is that sometimes when i bail hard one side of the earpiece falls out but when i fall im more concerned with making sure im not broken than the earpad
This helmet is extremely comfortable. The only Issue with it is how easily the ear pads come out although that is not a problem with me because I took them out and I just wear a thin beanie underneath so I don't need the extra warmth. I like how low profile and stylish red helmets look. Some helmets make my already big head look huge but this helmet looks nice. My favorite thing about this helmet is that you can take the earpads and the extra insulation out and then just use it as a skate helmet. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes lightweight skate style helmets.
The Red Trace 2 is an all around good helmet. Some people like to wear a hat underneath there helmets and if you are one of those people I suggest getting one size larger. The Red Trace 2 is a good helmet for anything, it is also very stylish!
I got this helmet because ive heard great things about RED helmets, first off its a pretty good helmet. The only bad things i can say about it is that sometimes the goggle clip slides out of the helmet and the ear pads sometimes come out, but this isnt really a big deal to me as its a quick simple fix. Other than that the helmet is constructed well and its done its job plenty of times while ive been snowboarding(not sure if thats a good thing lol) but not only is it durable but its really warm also. Overall a good buy. and im not sure what the other reviews are saying about the vents because when i bought my helmet it came with some removable vent plugs
This is a really cool helmet. It's great for skating in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. I reccomend this helmet to skaters and only snowboarders that don't go in freezing conditions because you can't close the vents.
wish I got a bigger size cuz I grew a little but I love this helmet. It kept me warm and when it was really cold I took one pad out and then I fit a beanie under the helmet. It did its job too i had a bad wipe out and hit my head on a rail but i was completely fine because of the helmet. I love this thing it saved me a concussion and some bad bruising.
This really is a great helmet for everybody. in my opinion it's quite light for a helmet and because of that it's very comfortable to wear. it fits great with anon goggles. the only thing that they have to do better on the next year edition are the earpads.. they come out way to easy. but i highly recommend this helmet!
I really liked Red's helmet, because it wasn't too bulky, but provided ample protection and cushioning for any bad bails. The ear padding was nice and warm. If you're between sizes (Med-Lg) like me, go for the medium. The only thing I didn't really like was the flimsyness of the padding and the goggle clip. The goggle clip doesn't really have a button to secure your goggles from falling off, so it falls off relatively easily. The ear padding for listening to music was a very smart idea as well, I liked that a lot. Other than the goggle clip, this helmet is excellent for the price
I've had this helmet for a little over a year, and I've used it about 30 days. It's a simple clean lid, and it didn't cost much. It's warm enough to get by on cold (20 degree) days without a hood or beanie, which is good because I would have probably needed to size up to wear anything under it. It's not too bad on warm days either, unblock the front vents and you get noticeable airflow. Not as airy as higher end helmets tho. The ear pads help on the cold days, and can easily accept hacked up old school headphones for jams on the cheap. This helmet isn't without weaknesses though. Since it's meant to be used for skateboarding too, the google clip is removable. Too removable. I lost mine through a grated deck, but have been getting by without. The build quality is also a little poor. The glue that held the eps foam to the outer shell gave up this summer after being stored in a hot garage, allowing the outer shell to slide around the foam. I pulled it apart, and I'm going to repaint and reglue it and it should be good for next season.
I had bought this helmet this year and so far I used it three times. I've had two other helmets and this is the best one by far. I am more of a park rider so I have taken a couple of falls and this helmet hasn't broke so far.The main feature that i really like about his helmet is that it is audio compatibility. The headphone are decent in sound. So from my experience with this helmet I would recommend this helmet to a friend!
First, let me mention that I'm not sure if the helmet I have is a 2010 or 2011. I liked my '09 Red Trace so much that I bought another one. The '09 was still perfect after a season and a half of riding, but I lost it during a move, so I picked up another. This one was great until the end of the '11 season when the padding & shell separated. There must be some glue or other mechanism that held the two together, but they came apart, and the shell would slide around enough to be super annoying, but not enough to actually fall off.
It may have been caused by the added weight of my GoPro camera mounted on it, and it did almost last the entire season (22 days). Either way, the helmet is essentially useless to me now, but I did love it before this happened, so I'm hoping mine was just a fluke. I will probably buy another one for next season, and if something like this happens again, only then will I go back to Giro
I like it a lot, but if it had more air vents I would like it even more. Does the job and keeps me protected. Sometimes when using it in local resorts it could get a little too warm. Well worth the investment though
