Dave here talking about the super, happy, fun, awesome, mega boot, the Ride Crew Boa Focus Snowboard Boot. What you’re looking at here is definitely a higher end boot for a discerning rider that’s been riding for a second. Intermediate to high end kind of kill everything. It works for freestyle, free ride. It’s from their ATV collection, which means it can handle any type of terrain.
The main feature on this one is going to be the dual Boa; really, really nice. It eliminates the only problem that I ever had with the Boa system, which was just that it had the same tightness from the top to the bottom. This will give you one Boa for the top, and then one for the lower with overlap in between. Really, really cool, on the top one here they have the coiler. So you pull it out, bring it back in, it sucks the extra cable back in there. On the older ones you kind of have to sit there forever getting all the extra cable in. Really nice because you can change the flex of the boot by just doing the upper tighter or looser. If you’re doing like a park or smaller, crappier terrain you can ride it loose. It’s going to be a softer flexing boot. You get into some bigger mountain stuff, some uneven terrain, some trees, stuff like that, you can really crank on it. It changes the response of the boot. Really good durability with the Boa system too. It’s actually 29 strands of stainless steel wound into these, so they’re pretty much nuke proof.
The sole on this one is going to be a really nice, integrated sole. You got some dampening material in the heel here. It’s going to take up a lot of the shock from landings or uneven terrain, really good aggressive grip to it. They do have a little micro articulating cuff on this one. It’s going to keep the boot from deforming when you’re flexing your knees, which you’re constantly doing when you’re riding. Also, the Ride boots are very short toe to heel versus other boots on the market; really, really good for the guys, the big dogs, keeps them from getting the toe and heel drag. And that moves us to the inside. What we got here is the lace harness is actually mounted to the outer part of the boot. I insist on this for my boots. On the ones that have the laces on the liner, all you’re doing is holding your foot in the liner, and the whole thing is free to move up and down within the outer part of the boot. This holds your foot in the liner and the liner into the back of the outer so you get better heel hold with a system like this. Really good lace hardware on the Ride stuff too; it actually clips right into the liner so it stays where it’s supposed to be. It’s not slipping underneath where your ankle strap goes, and really easy to engage and disengage.
And then from there, we move into a really, really high end liner form. This is their support liner, bunch of stuff going on here. First off, you got a very high end, heat moldable foam. Body heat active, you just wear them around the house or take them out riding and they’ll custom mold to your foot. Really nice reflective material here, it’s going to kick the heat back to the foot, keep those toes warm. It does have a different kind of moldable foam for the J bars, which is basically going to even more so mold around your ankle, giving you good heel hold. I don’t know if that made sense, but you know what I meant. The tongue on this one is going to have the Velcro; really, really nice super quick in and out times versus older boots that have the power strap. Keeps it nice and centered.
Then going into the interior, you got really nice, comfy, soft fur for your pleasure. Directional nap panel right here keeps your socks from sliding down throughout the day, keeps you locked up in the liner really, really well. You got a deep Achilles pocket. It’s going to hold your heel back there and keep it from lifting. Both the liner and the outer will have 3D molded tongues so they don’t deform once you get the Boa tightened on it. Definitely like I said, super high end liner from them. And finally, insole on this one, you got a tri-component insole. You got your regular foam moving into a harder plastic to keep it from deforming, give you better arch support, keep your heel centered, and then you do add a little bit of dampening material as well. So really, really good for shock absorption and any kind of icy terrain where you get a lot of chatter.
Like I said, super high end boot, definitely for the discerning rider. Got a lot of tech in it. The liner will also have Aegis, which keeps the boots from stinking. And it really does work too because I have stinky feet and I have boots that have it. They don’t stink. I’ve already said way too much - theĀ Ride Crew Boa Focus Snowboard Boot.
The Crew comes complete with The Closer lace guide and Boa Focus lacing system.
